bridesmaid problems

vent....i've been in about five weddings including mine and never have i encountered this. I'm in my husband's cousins wedding, not very close to them but walking down with hubby. The moh leaves messages on voicemail, 'i need $130 dollars and shower will be april 16th'. Mind you there are 8 bridesmaids. she didn't even ask us what we can afford and if we available on that date. The bride and groom just almost called off the wedding because he cheats on her.Should I, A. just give money and suck it up or B. tell them i can only give $75. please help!!!!!

Give what you can and see if you can attend on that day. I would call her back and let her know as soon as possible. Obviously an amateur MOH.

Re: bridesmaid problems

It is customary for bridesmaids to pitch in for the bridal shower, however, it is totally unacceptable that she did all the planning without asking you what you could afford first. I would tell her that all you could afford is the $75. If she has a prob with that then explain to her that she should have consulted all of the bridesmaids, including yourself, before making that plans.

I think its very rude what she did

If he cheats on her.....I'd wait till the LAST possible minute to cough up the money! ( not to mention buying the dress!!! )

Secondly........what kind of wedding will this be? People knowing it ALMOST didn't happen and that he's a cheater.....is everyone supposed to 'feel the love' that day? I dunno but I would have a TOTALLY different perspective on that day! SORRY just a thought!

Re: bridesmaid problems

Hi, I had this same thing happen at my cousins wedding. I was her MOH and there were 8 bridesmaids too, she decided that she needed 85 people at her shower and her FSIL called me, the MOH, said she needed $150 and when the shower was. Mind you, I lived in Los Angeles, the wedding was in NYC and I had already flown in for her bachelorette plus bought a $300 dress. I am a teacher and couldn't afford this, I called my aunt and made her pay the extra money for the shower.
If I were you, I would pay the money, but let whoever made this decision that they needed to have been more considerate when making this decision, since it involves more than just them.
Good Luck, it will all work out!
