Sorry ladies, I have not been posting in a few days...
my bro was in the hospital but thank goodness he seems to be doing ok now....
here is my question:
two of my 4 bridesmaids suggested that they wear the same color but different dresses....
at first I was open to the idea, but now thinking about it...I am not so sure
I am the type of person that needs to match and yet I want them to wear something they like.
is this worthless drama if I say no? I mean I know it is my wedding and all but I dont want to be a bridezilla!!!

I think it's looks fine if the girls wear different styles. My girls most likely will. But, it's your day and totally up to you.

I agree. I think it is ultimately your decision but will just as nice if they pick the same color and different style. If you let them pick their style (with you approval) it might make for happier bridesmaids.

I'm letting my girls wear the whatever style dress they like. I have girls of all differenet sizes and I want them to buy a dress they will be comfortable/happy with. I've been in two weddings that had this and the pics came out great. As long as the colors are the same and I think the length the dresses blend real well.

we did this for my best friends wedding and the pics came out great. All the dresses were from the same manufacturer and were the same color. I am considering it for my girls myself.

i agree.. when it comes down to it it's your choice.. but i think different styles in the same color look great. Each girl gets to bring her style to it a little and feel most comfortable for the night. But i think all matching looks great too. It comes down to how you are gonna feel about it.

It's ultimately your choice...BUT I think that different dresses has an advantage--your BMs will be able to get a dress that they will look great in, as opposed to a one size deal that they may not look as nice in.

My girls are all wearing the same thing. It's up to you on what you want. Your vision of what your wedding should look like....if you want them all in the same thing then they will have to deal...I mean that's how it's been done for years! I think a uniform bridal party looks best...but that's just me:)

I know in theory it sounds great to be the super accommodating bride and let everyone pick what they want but I am really anal about the way things look and wanted my BMs to wear the same dress in the same color.
If it REALLY didnt work and the dress was unflattering/uncomfortable for some of them I was willing to let them go slightly different (adding straps, or a slightly different cut as long as they looked substantially similar) but instead I found it easier to give my BMs (at least those who wanted to be really involved) a lot of discretion in choosing the dresses. Luckily 2 fell in love with a particular dress and the rest really liked it too, so we went with that even though it wasnt initially what i thought i wanted. (i had thought strapless, these have a thin spaghetti strap, but it looked so good on them and they all loved it that i said OK)
I'm just happy they are all wearing the same thing....

I am letting them do hair however they want as long as it looks nice, and whatever shoes they want (probably silver so they can rewear) so they will be comfortable.

if you don't want them to wear differant dresses then they shoudlnt. Yes, it's 2007 and a lot of people are going that route. But heck, even 5 years ago no one would have said 'OMG BRIDEZILLA' to you telling them what dress to wear.
I think it's customary or traditional to pick out their dresses for them. Just try to pick something that will look good on all body types.
