Bridesmaid shoes...WWYD???

Bridesmaid shoes...WWYD???

This is long...sorry

I've been going back and forth on shoes since I chose the dresses. Initially, I wanted my girls to wear silver shoes with their lavender dresses. But, I was told that silver can vary and it would look tacky if someone had a dull silver (more gray) and someone else had a metallic silver. So trying to be a good sport, I told my girls to get dyeable shoes and dye them to match their dresses. They could get any shoe they wanted. I thought that was pretty fair.

Well, about a month and a half ago, a BM texts me about the shoes and asked if silver could be considered, I didn't think anything of it and mentioned it to my MOH. She was cool with it too. So, I contacted all my BM's and told them NOT to buy any shoes, because I will decided silver or dyeables by the end of the month. Well, a different BM states that if we do silver, it will look tacky and cheap!! I was appalled. First, I never asked for your opinion and second, give me the benefit of the doubt. Shoes are EXPENSIVE!!!!! I understand that you can dye shoes another color, but come on....who remembers to do that???????

At this point, I'm not sure what to do. I like the silver better than dyeables, but I really don;t want to step on anyone's toes (hahaha) over some shoes.

Should I go with dyeables??? Silver, where I choose the shoe (3 options for heel heights)???? Go barefoot!?

HELP!!!!

Thanks for anyone who read this whole thing!!

With long dresses, do you want them to all have the same shoe?? Is it really important to you?

If so, then do what YOU want to do, its your day.

Otherwise, just have them do whatever, they are long dresses and no one will see their shoes. They will probably take them off at the reception anyway.

if that's your dress, it's LONG! nobody is going to see the shoes. i'd go with whatever the majority votes. really, you won't even notice day-of.

Wow, I can't believe one of your BM's said that! I told my bridesmaids to get whatever silver shoe they want. I also have long dresses. I don't think that is tacky AT ALL. Besides, I don't think anyone is actually going to notice their feet.

I have an eggplant type color, and choosing silver as well. I am giving them an option of open or closed and that is it. I don't think it's tacky at all

a) I think silver goes very well with the dresses.
b) I am having my girls wear silver shoes and their dresses are long. No one will see their shoes
c) you need to be happy with what you pick its your day! Its your vision that you are creating if you like it then they need to suck it up
d) I think people with be more likely to get more use out the shoes after the wedding if they are silver
e) all of the above lol

The dresses are long I wouldnt go crazy over it. My friend went crazy over what shoes we wore I bought dyeables and everything, looking back on the pics you never saw our shoes especially not mine. My girls have long dress and I told them whatever brown shoe they own. I even bought them brown flip flops because the pics will be at the beach. Do what you want that you love. Your bridesmaids will just have to suck it up

Thanks ladies!!! I wish it were easier to have them choose but it's been such a problem from day one. I'm still debating if I should choose the shoe or them them choose but I think silver is pretty and you can get more use from a silver shoe. And yes!!! They're long dresses!!! No one is paying attention to their feet!!! lol!

I am going with a silver shoe for my girls as well. I am letting them pick whatever silver show they want but open toed. I dont think it looks tackey at all! THey are wearing long dresses so no one will really see the shoes anyway.

Since its a long dress, I really don't think the shoe matters because you wont see it. What I did for my girls was let them come to an agreement on what silver shoe to get. In the end, I was the one to pick and they all ordered them. I had my girls buy the same pair because my girls' dresses are tealength and you will see their shoes.

I love this dress. I think you should do majority rules or whatever your gut tells you.

MOH has come up with a semi solution

She and another BM (the tacky one) will go and try on their dresses some time this week and take pics with a silver shoe. If all works well, we'll go to MJM or DSW on Sunday (since the majority of my BMs will be in NY for my bachelorette party)

I'm praying for this option to work now...

I told all of my BM's - strappy metalic silver sandals - that seemed to help.....

I have dark purple BM dresses and i told them all to get silver shoes. I didn't really care bc if people are looking at the Bm's feet they have issues, lol! My FSIL got dyeable shoes and got it dyed to match the dress but she's also 9 months pregnant and needed comfy shoes, but everyone else is wearing whatever silver shoes they have. HTH

If they are long, do what you want

I think silver is fine, and I cannot believe she said that to you!
