We live on LI but having the reception and church in Brooklyn. Our bridal party consists of people who live on LI, Bklyn, and mostly CT. We (really my FH) don't know about having a rehearsal dinner because we (really my FH) feel bad about people having to travel into the city for a few hours just to go back home. I guess he's right in a way because if we do have the rehearsal, then it would be imposing on our guests to possibly have to pay for rooms for the WHOLE weekend rather than just the night of our wedding. Should we adopt another expense and pay for them to stay? Maybe we could get a few double rooms? I don't know. HELP!! My other thing is what exactly are the duties of the people in the party? I feel so stupid even thinking or expecting them to have to 'do things.' I'm aware that the girls will throw the shower/batch and the men will do the batchelor party but what else?

Re: Bridesmaid/BM/MOH/Groomsmen duties
Are you getting married in a church? We are doing the ceremony at the RH and we were talked out of doing a rehearsal. It is not so common or necessary. For a church, there may be more rules. It is usual short, no more than 30 min and then usually have a rehearsal dinner, which can get costly. I am under the belief that rehearsals are usually a Thur in the church, not sure what day you are getting married. The bridal party is there to help and support the B&G. Also the bachelor and bachelorette parties and for you-the shower. The girls usually help get you dressed and make sure you don't trip over the gown. It is more for support that day.

Yes. We are having the church. I just thought it would be nice to honor our party by having a dinner with them and handing out our thank you gifts. My FH is not completely opposed to it. I actually brought it up in more detail since I made that last post and he agreed it really is a good idea.
