So originally I was only going to have my sister as my MOH and no bridesmaids. But recently I've been considering having 2 bridesmaids in addition to my sister. I just can't decide!! What do you think? Is it better to have a bridal party?

I'm not sure because I'm considering the same thing. I'm def having my sis as MOH...but I'm contemplating whether I should include bridesmaids. If I do include bridesmaids I will probably have about 5-6 of them...I've been going back on forth on this! Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

honestly, you should have whoever you want in your wedding. if you only want a maid of honor then thats fine but if u want to include the 2 other girls you def should.

personally, I like the idea of a big bridal party.

When you picture your wedding day what do you see? Go with whatever you prefer... I'm having a BP, I never really thought about not having one.

Re: Bridesmaids...
I originally just wanted a MOH - I am older than the average girl on here (31), and I know the majority of my friends are over being in BPs. FH has 2 brothers and 2 friends who are like brothers tho, so in the interest of keeping things even, I did ask 2 cousins and 2 of my friends. I've been to weddings with NO bridal parties and weddings with over 20 people - there is no right way - its just what you envision for your day!

I had the same exact dilemma. What made up my mind was when I saw the hall, I could not picture my 3 best friends sitting there in regular dresses, having regular guest roles. I knew then that they had to be bridesmaids.

Same here! I have 7 BM's, 3 Jr BM's & 1 FG b/c i can't imagine my wedding without those 11 girls by my side. It's a personal choice.

Re: Bridesmaids...
I was on the fence about adding an additional bridesmaid because I thought it was too late....but I added her anyway and it was the best feeling! I am so happy I did
So my advice to you would be do what makes you happy. If theses 2 friends, family members..whoever, make you happy and you would like them to be part of your special day, GO for it

Re: Bridesmaids...
I'm having my sister as my MOH and then FH's two sisters as my bridemaids. We decided to have a small wedding party consisting of family only. I think it's a great idea to have 2 bridemaids on who to pick....you have to decide on girls that you want to be in your wedding GOOD LUCK!

That is good to hear. I am having a big bridal party because I have four sil who I am very close with- I dont have any sisters. I have a cousin who I grew up wih and cant imagine not having by my side and then 3 of my best friends (one who is my MOH).

It's really up to what you really want. There's nothing that says you need to have a huge bridal party but if there are girls that you want to have part of your bridal party, then put them in.

Re: Bridesmaids...
I do think it's a decision that you'll need to make soon, so that you can ask your girls and you can start looking at and ordering their dresses. (I'm going by the date in your profile though...it could be a false date due to lurkers)
We're having a small one - just my sister as the MOH and my best friend as a BM, and on his side his brother is the BM (Best Man, not Bridesmaid ) and his best friend as a GM. I wanted to include one of my best friends - a guy - on my side, but he's been back and forth with jobs and I really didn't want to add an expense - a BIG expense - to his stress. My compromise is that I'm asking him to do a reading. He's practically family - have known him since I was about 15/16 - and it's a must that he participates somehow.
I always knew I wanted one on the smaller side of things though...I was a BM in my best friend's wedding and there were 5 girls and a whole lotta drama. Not saying that will happen to you, but dealing with the experience for more than a year with those girls turned me off to the idea.

Re: Bridesmaids...
my parents advised us from day one, only have a MOH & best man. it will be less headaches.
I wish everyday that we would have listened to them. the guys are no problem. they really are very happy for FH & I & are very excited for the wedding. when they found out my dress came in, they where so genuinely happy for me.
on the other hand the 3 bridesmaids (my cousins) could give a rats tall less what is going on. I will never ever forget when my cousin had her first dress fighting & her mom couldn't make it because she lives upstate, NY & my cousin lives in Queens & I volunteered to go with her. not 1 of them has helped my mom or sister (MOH) with anything. don't even get me started on the stress I had to deal with when trying to order a bridesmaid dress.
honestly take as much time as you can to make a final decision.

Re: Bridesmaids...
I always thought I wanted a large bridal party and now I am only having my MOH, my FSD and Best Man. I didn't want the stress of having to pick 7 bm dresses, the hair, make-up, all of that. So I basically opted to reduce my things to do. Good luck!

Re: Bridesmaids...
I think it can go either way.
There was no way I couldn't have a BP, I have 4 sisters between myself and FH and then I have my 3 best friends and a friend's wife.
My BP is honestly not that bad, everyone is pretty cool and does anything I need, it's just hard getting everyone together to do stuff at the same time. But you have to factor in the cost of having a BP in terms of gifts, BOKs, etc
It's a completely personal choice of who you would want standing there to support you on your day

Re: Bridesmaids...
there are 25 people in our BP... dont go by us... its totally a personal preference... if these people are important to you than do it...
