Re: Bridesmaids
nothing, I just want them to show up.. I don't care how they wear their hair, what shoes they have on, blah blah blah...
I was just in a wedding where the brides mother was more the bridezilla than her. She was dictating what shoes we could wear and how high the heel had to be, how our hair and makeup was to be done, complained that we didn't help her enough with the shower (bride lives in VA, bridal party all in NY). She was yelling at us when we got down to the rehearsal that we were late and should have left NY earlier. We left at 8 am mind you and were stuck in at least 2 hrs worth of traffic.. It was crazy, she was crazy and so was her mom.
Thats why I have no demands or requests. Just show up and have a good time!

Re: Bridesmaids
I don't expect much, come to the shower and bach party if you can, wear the dress we pick, show up on time. I'm not making anyone get hair/makeup if they don't want/can't afford it, no matching shoes, I don't expect some lavish bach party where we fly to vegas or some tropical island. I really just want them to be there with me on my day because they've been with me through everything else!

Re: Bridesmaids
I really don't expect that much from my bridesmaids. The only thing I'm making them do is wear the dress I picked out, wear the DOJ, wear silver shoes and get their hair professionally done. And I hope that they all make it to my bachelorette party!

Re: Bridesmaids
Im easy going and have NO expectations. They are all helpful if I ask, but I know their life doesn't revolve around my wedding.
Only thing required of them is to get the dress. I am not making them do their hair or makeup. It's an option, and a few of them are going to get it done with me, but not a requirement. They can pick whatever shoes they want (has to be black).

Re: Bridesmaids
I've been a pretty easy going bride. My FSIl who is a bridesmaid offered to do my STD's. She also told me she would get my card box made as a gift for me for my shower (whenever that is) Im going to let them choose their own shoes. i will pick a few BM dresses and they can decide which one they like the best (I would like all of them to have the same dress though) Im hoping the girls will help my mom and sister with the shower and the girls will probably do a lot for my bachelorette party.

Re: Bridesmaids
I'm not to bad but I do expect certain things like:
Get your dress
Get professional make up done (i'm paying for it since i wanted it done)
Participate in the bparty and 1 of the 2 showers that I am having. My mother is planning one in fl and FMIL is planning one here. Neither are asking them for any money but I would like them to help out and attend. 1 of my BM has already planned my bparty for this Aug and so i hear she has really stepped up to the plate and handled her business. I can honestly say she has been the only one ready and willing to help. She comes up here from DC often just to hang out with me and do wedding stuff....and she is FH cousin not mine.
I would like for them to help with wedding stuff like stuffing the cake boxes and putting the ribbons on when we get to that point, assembling the candy boxes and the OOT bags.
I want all of my girls in town atleast the day before the wedding and i expect them to be on time the day of.
I dont care how they do their hair and i dont care what shoes they wear as long as its gold.
I think when you except being a BM you take on certain responsibilities and its assumed that you are here to help the bride. I had a cousin turn me down for being in my wedding because at the time she didnt have a job and she could not commit to all of the typical BM duties. I really appreciated her being honest with me. When i was a BM in my cousins wedding I did everything I could for her from another state and i was in FL a week before the wedding to help her with anything.

Re: Bridesmaids
I really don't want my girls to feel they HAVE TO do anything and I completely understand if I ask them if they would like to do something with me or help me with something if they can't do it for whatever reason. I always and will continue to extend the offer to come to any appts. I may have or when I went dress shopping and some came and some didn't which was perfectly fine with me. My mom has been with me for everything which to me is a big thing because me and her have had a rocky history with getting on each other's nerves and the fact that we are having fun doing this together is really nice so I'm basking in it LOL.
Before the wedding: I guess the only thing I would like my girls to do is be available for BM dress shopping (which I even tried to work around everyone else's schedules to find a date that works best for everyone), pay for their BM dress and shoes, and to help my mom out with the shower. Though even where the shower is concerned, I asked my mom, who is planning it, what she would like the BMs to do and she said that she doesn't want any money from them for the food/drinks or anything like that, but they can take care of the decorations and the 'fun stuff'. I had sent out an email to all the BMs and my mom and FMIL that had everyone's contact information on it in case they needed to get in touch with one another so I'll let them figure all that stuff out LOL. Also, to just come celebrate with me at my Bach Party and get drunk. Other than that I got everything else pretty much handled myself (like all the DIY projects).
Day of the wedding: To just show up on time to my mother's house before the photographer gets there. I would like to have a sleep over the night before the wedding to just relax, have a few drinks and watch some movies but I'm not going to force them to do that because I know it may be an inconvenience to them the day of if there hair appt. is back in Queens and my mom's house is in the Bronx - so I'll throw that out there and let them decide. Also, they don't have to be at my beck and call, but if I need a hand with something (like to pee) just help a sista out LOL

Re: Bridesmaids
I have one MOH and one Man of Honor.
I don't expect my Man of Honor to do anything but wear the suit the day of. It's my brother and he is in the Navy. He's separation day from the Navy is exactly 1 month from the wedding. So I'm not really expecting him to do anything else. I just want him there with me, that's all.
My MOH lives on LI still and I'm out in AZ. The only thing I have asked of her is to pick out any dress she wants, just needs to be champagne and I'll pay for it. The fact that she's coming all the way out here for the wedding is plenty as far as I'm concerned. I can handle the rest.
As for showers, bach parties, etc. I'm really not expecting much of anything. Not sure I'll even have one. I don't have many girlfriends and my mom is a little flightly. So we'll see.
I just email my MOH a lot to get her opinion on just about everything. Thankfully she is more than happy to help. She's the best!
