Bridesmaids and Moms as DOC's!!!!

I have been agonizing over getting a DOC for months. Then I thought, why? My cousin who is in the wedding business (she is a photographer) is going to facilitate all of the picture taking and make sure all the necessary pics are taken, quickly and smoothly.

My BM's are great and if I assign them to certain things, they will help out. Same goes with the mom's.

I will supply my MOH with the vendor list, bring emergency kits etc...... My Maitre'd is a doll.

I mean why spend the $$$, my wedding budget is out of control already. I feel like we all have BM's for a reason, they are here to help us. We should be able to count on their help or they shouldn't be in the wedding party. Don't you agree?

BM's will be there to help you, absolutely. But a DOC is there to execute your wishes with your vendors and your hall.

A DOC will make sure your ceremony is set up as you want, that your ceremony items are handed out (programs, petal cones, cry packs, aisle runner), your tables are set up like you want (favors, menus, centerpieces), make sure your cake is as you ordered, deal with vendors who are not doing what was contracted, make sure the songs you requested are played, make sure your requested photos are taken, have the bridal emergency bag (to fix your dress or your make up) as well as a ton of other stuff.

Your BM's will be busy with you taking photos (or walking down the aisle or standing at the altar) during much of the day.

You can ask a family member but you risk that at some point that person will leave their assigned position and join the party

My DOC is already handling a vendor issue for us and our wedding is still a ways off

A DOC is of course, a personal decision. For me, I want my BM and mom to enjoy the wedding. I don't want someone who needs to be in a picture running after someone else who needs to be in the same picture, because that only means I'm short TWO people for the picture, instead of only one.

There are a bunch of other reasons to hire a DOC, and for me it made sense. My ceremony and reception are at two different locations, a friend (not the florist) is doing the decorations at the ceremony, I have issues with parking and the chief of police and the mayor at the ceremony - and they want a phone number just in case. I sure as heck don't want mom or a BM to get a call during the vows!!!!

My DOC has already been a tremendous help with a variety of things, not to mention that from the moment I hired her I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders!!
