Most of my bridesmaids are out of state, and are grad. school students who are low on funds. As it is they are paying for the airfare and hotel for my wedding. I would really like to find inexpensive BM's dresses, that look good. Any suggestions?

Burtons had great deals on BM dresses, mine were 50 bucks cheaper than other stores. Hope this helps!

How much is inexpensive? I just got my BM dresses at David's Bridal. The prices ranged from $99-$145. Good luck!

I am in a wedding in July and the bride found dresses at Macy's she liked. She bought 7 of them right off the rack. They are Jessica Mclintock and were $115 and the great thing is most people don't need alterations at all!

How about outlet shopping or Macy's sales. My friend got BM dresses at Talbots (?) outlet for like $40. I hear JC Pennys has BM dresses a a reasonable price (not kidding).
RK has good prices. One of my BM dreses was $100 before tax and alterations.

Try to find dresses on netbride.com. My girls picked a dress that was $215 in a bridal salon and $105 on netbride. Huge difference!

My BM are wearing After Six and it was $110. Its a beautiful dress and made very well. I'll post a pic (mine is in navy)
Buying at a place like Macy's is a great idea -- you can get coupons and sign up for the credit card to get even more money taken off.
Another thought -- if you want to help them, perhaps you can trim the budget elsewhere and subsidize their dress purchase. (Flowers, invitations, and favors seem to be the easiest places to cut back costs with little impact.)

What about going to misc. stores and looking at prom gowns? I think stores are starting to put them out since spring is coming soon!

Sometime having a dress made can be cheaper too. You can find a pattern you like and get the material and have a seamstress make them.
Also pick a color you like -- get a swatch of that color and ask them to pick out a dress they like that matches that swatch. My SIL did this b/c she had two preggo BM and it was easiest. She picked Navy and had them all get a dress they liked. You can still say you'd like it to be floor length, with sleeves, or whatever you would like to make it look somewhat uniform.

Check out RK Bridal's no-frills program. It's perfect for you since your girls aren't local and you get to save so much $$ too! I found my dresses there for only $102!!!!
My dridemaids dresses cost 114 at Burtons, theyare jordan dresses. I also got a dress for a BP that I wa in at Davids and it came to 115 with tax, they were running a sale.

Re: Bridesmaids are Strapped, Dress IDeas?
I had my bridesmaids buy formal dresses from Ann Taylors. The great thing about it is that the ladies can try on the dresses for the right size, there are stores at all major cities, the dresses I picked out were originally $219 but went on sale for half off and the material of the dresses are usually better quality materials than the polyester materials normally used for 'bridesmaid' dresses. The negatives are that there is not a lot of selection - they only have a few styles/colors each season.

I'd try netbride.com, they had the lowest prices and several brides on this board used them without problems. You can get immediate quotes on dresses by going to www.houseofbrides.com...LOL

You can try Estelle's on Rt. 110 for a less expensive dress. Or if you want you can offer to pay for half of their dress as your 'gift' to them.
