Bridesmaids Dress Material

Does anyone have bridesmaid dresses in either irridescent taffeta or matte satin? I'm trying to decide on a dress for the bridesmaid and I don't know how these shiny materials really come out in pictures. I'm more concerned about the taffeta but concerned that a lilac or pink matte satin will look cheesy. Please help!

Re: Bridesmaids Dress Material

My BMS dresses are matte taffeta, I love the material, the color is wine. I love the way it shimmers. I think the color and material will really stand out in the pictures especially next to my ivory dress. That is the look I was going for, I guess it's all up to what you like.

Re: Bridesmaids Dress Material

Just a word of advise - I used to work at a bridal shop, and twice I saw whole bridal parties of the tafeta have to be sent back (2 different manufacturers). Sometimes the material will get 'bubbles' in it. It almost looks like it was ironed in, but I think that it is actually air bubbles that cause it. I have also seen it where it looks like a wrinkle was ironed into the dress. These cannot be pressed out, and the manufacturers have to cut new dresses. When this does happen, it usually occurs throughout the whole bolt of material, which means that all of the dresses are usually affected.

I think the material is beautiful and looks great in pics, but I don't know if you want to take the chance of having to send them back!

Just wanted to give you an 'insiders' point of view!

Re: Bridesmaids Dress Material

My dresses are matte satin but my wedding is Oct.

The ones I wore for my brother's wedding were matte satin (at least the bottom was). I loved how they looked in pictures. I will post one.
