Is anyone doing this? I am seriously thinking of the idea , but does this mean I would pay for the alterations as well? What do you think? Wouls it look tacky if I buy the dress and tell them they have to take care of alterations themselves?

Re: Bridesmaids dresses as gifts
To be honest it's a nice gesture, but if it's a dress they won't ever wear again, I wouldn't do it as a gift.

Re: Bridesmaids dresses as gifts
To be honest, i wanted to pay for them because my sister is my MOH and her two daughters are my bridesmaids and she really doesn't have much money. She's a single mom. It's not much of a gift your right. Maybe I'll just buy a little something along with the dress. Thanks.

I think it's a nice gesture, absolutely. Have you selected your dresses yet? If not check out RK Bridal in the city. Great prices.

Not at all. Cause everyone will have different priced alterations and some might not need any at all! I think the dress is a really generous gift.

Especially with your situation you described with your sister and her daughters I think it makes sense! Maybe you could do something sentimental but not expensive to go along with it! (like a scrapbook, or something sister-related....)

Are you giving them the dress AND a personal gift? If not, then I don't think it's a good idea.

Re: Bridesmaids dresses as gifts
since it is your sister and nieces i say yes ! for some reason that makes more sense say if it was 3 friends. i dont know why. but i would not have them pay for alterations-too awkward to ask! just pay it all and look for affordable simple but pretty dresses! good luck!
