Bridesmaids Gowns...

I'm wondering how soon before the wedding should bridesmaids gowns be ordered? I was thinking about 6 months before the wedding but I don't know if that is cutting it close?

Also how does the payments work out at the stores?

Do they have to pay for the entire gown at the time of ordering or is a deposit just left?

my FSIL had an 8 month engagement and we got the BM dresses 6 months before the wedding and had more than enough time.

for payments, we put a deposit down on the dress when we got measured for them and paid the rest when we picked up the dresses

My girls' gowns were ordered 6 months out. They put a 50% deposit and the rest was due when the dresses came in.

Ok..thanks so much for the replies. I was thinking about doing monthly $$ collections from them so when I do find the gowns, there won't be any issues concerning money...

We ordered BM gowns for my friend's early October wedding in April and the girl at Here Comes the Bridesmaid said they would be in the end of June.

At Here Comes the Bridesmaid I had to pay in full when I ordered the gown. Some girls just put in a deposit, but the deposit was $150 and my gown was only $200 so I figured I would just pay for the whole thing.

My place told me 6-9 months before. I know some places they come in fast though so 6 months could be sufficient. I guess ask the place where you want to order from what they recommend.
