Bridesmaids - Hair & Makeup

Bridesmaids - Hair & Makeup

I have a few bridesmaids that have told me they only wanted to get their hair done for the wedding and not makeup. However, I had a MU and hairstylist recommended to me that would do both at a great price but she has a minimum. If only a few of my bridesmaids only get their hair done and not their makeup we would not meet the minimum.

So my question is this, would it be rude of me to sort of not make it an option, that they would have to get their hair and makeup done?

That's a tricky situation! I am in the same boat as far as wanting them all to get both done but my top priority is that everyone's hair is done professionally. I also have 2 different people doing the hair and make-up so I am not forced bc of the deal and minimums.

I would just explain to the ones who weren't looking to do both what the situation is and how great the deal is and maybe they will change their minds and get both done. I would force it on them bc that can cause all sorts of problems.

Good Luck!!

I definitely WOULD NOT tell them it's not an option. I would be beyond annoyed if a bride told me that. I've never had my make up done for a wedding I've been in (mostly because I don't trust most people to do my makeup, but also due to money). But I would explain to the girls what the situation is. Some girls just think it's easier to do their own or that it's too much money, so I would explain how much it would cost if that minimum amount of girls did it. But definitely leave it up to the girls to make their own decisions.

What about paying a portion of the cost? That's what I'm doing. I know a lot of my girls wouldn't want to pay $50 for makeup, so I'm going to pay $20 and tell them it's $30.

I would really just explain it to them and maybe they would be willing to do it. I would do my own since I'm not half bad at doing my own rather than pay someone 50 bucks to do it but if it was cheaper then that's a different story.
I would never force them to do it. A few of us did our own makeup for my friend's wedding and it was great so it would have been unnecessary for us to be forced into it.

THIS!!! I will probably end up doing the same thing!!

Courtesy wise if you want them to get their hair and make-up done then you should be paying for it. If you are offering an option to get it done then they should paid. In your case I would just be like if you want to get your hair and make-up done this is how much it is and there is a min. of # of girls that I would need to book with this person. I also know some make-up and hair people that have a min. do have something that if you cannot reach your min. then it's a little extra $ for the bride.

This is a nice compromise!

this! so much this! there are so many costs associated with weddings that BMs already have to deal with I don't think decisions should be made for them. I chose MUA & Hair stylists who don't have a minimum, and still got amazing deals. You could pay a portion or all of it for them, but don't force the issue because money is a really touchy subject.

This!! Find another makeup person that does not have a minimum or ask your mom or MOG if they need their makeup done then that will count towards your minimum.

Lets talk about this for a minute.....

How much are you paying for photo and video? They need to get their makeup done. Its a small sacrifice. I say put your foot down and end it at that. They should put away $5/wk in savings... should be enough if money is their issue. IF ur mu artist is charging too much then maybe pay for a portion of theirs.

or... let them do what they want and keep worrying about it from now until then...

But, to each their own.

This is my thought...I am spending so much on photography that I want us all to look nice in the pictures. I understand that some people don't normally wear makeup on a daily basis but this is a special occasion for goodness sake!

I am not going to force anything on them and maybe I will discuss with my FH about paying a portion of the cost. However, I will explain the minimum issue with them and maybe they'll be more willing to participate.

I agree that its rude to make someone get there hair and makeup done. However I agree that I'm spending a lot of money on video and photography that I would want there hair and makeup done professionally. I don't like people putting makeup on me either but its my wedding. I emailed my girls telling them about it and said the more girls I get the cheapier it will be. They are all are in so the day of I expect them all to have the money. I think people expect it being in a wedding.
