How did you handle ordering dresses for bridesmaids who live out of state? I went with my two girls who live here yesterday to Burton's to get measured and put down their deposits. They said my OOT girls will just have to go to their local tailor or whatever to get measured, call them with their measurements and mail a check for the deposit. But all the dresses get shipped to Burton's and I'll have to ship the dresses to the girls out of state. That sounds like a huge pain in the a$$.

I just asked this question on the 2015 board. It makes no sense to me why they should all order from the same shop. I've heard it's so that all of the dresses are made together and are the same color. How different can fabric lots of the same color be? Especially with different styles of dresses (doing same designer, fabric, color, and they can choose their own style)? Half of my BMs are not local and neither am I. It sounds like a major hassle to send in their measurements and then have to ship them their dresses if they could just go and get the dress from a shop local to them.

I have 2 out of state bridesmaids, and they went to their local shop and ordered the dresses there. They do have different style dresses, but even if they were all the same, I can't imagine the color being that far off. Plus I didn't want the responsibility of mailing a dress in case it got lost I would have to replace it.

I had all my bridesmaids pick a weekend they could come in to NY I have more than half out of state and we all paid and measured at the same time. I will ship them their dress when it gets here to get altered. My girls live in PA and CT that are out of state so for me it was easier than living further. My SIL for her wedding her bridesmaid from CA went to a bridal store and ordered her dress separately so she can be measured and such. All up what the bride is comfortable with!

I have one bridesmaid in CA. She's going to get measured on her own and then call bridal reflections with her measurements and style number she wants to order. I heard too from numerous people and even bridal stores abt dresses possibly looking different if ordered from different places. I'm too afraid to take the chance!

All of my bridesmaids are far away from me, so I ordered dresses through netbride.com and they ordered from the manufacturer for me. $20 shipping to get them to me, and I was able to hand them out at my shower. They are beautiful, and each girl gets to bring her dress to her trusted seamstress.
In your case with the orders already made, I probably would do it all through Burtons, just so they are all together. Or else have the girls order them from their own bridal salon (or netbride.com) and hope they match up perfectly.

One of my bridesmaids is in PA she came to pick it out with us one weekend then ordered it, will come for another visit when it's in. Originally she was going to buy at a shop near her but the price I negotiated was much cheaper than near her.

I actually have bridesmaids from outside the country, but it was super easy. Bridal shop said all I need was measurements (bust, waist, hips, and height), since that's all they use in the store to choose your size. If anyone was in between sizes I would order up since you can always alter a dress to be smaller. Much simpler than I had thought!
Edit: in terms if alterations, my bridal shop said they can alter in a 24 hour period if they have warning. So my girls are coming in two days before and will go straight there to get fitted.

Only 1 of my BM lives in NY, all the other BM including myself are out of state, and my matron of honor lives in Japan. I didn't know what to do! So one day when I came in to NY, me and the bm here went to different places to try on tons of dresses until I decided on the one I liked the most. The ended up ordering their dresses online for much much less than any other place we went to. They came in after 4 months! I only had to ship my matron of honor's dress to Japan.

I have a few girls out of state or not local to me. They had measurements done by them and called them into Macys and gave Macys my info so the correct dress was ordered. Some of the girls are picking up their dresses, some are having them shipped to a Macys local to them, and some did direct to home shipping. All my girls said it was really quick and easy to do. Before Macys placed the order they reviewed all the girls names, dress style number and color on the order forms.
