Me neither! But the mansion I can buy in NC, I can have a whole maid & butler staff and they can have their own quarters on their own acre and a live in nanny! So depressing

yeah thats what stinks we are both not willing to leave New York . . . therefore we have to be happy with our shoe box house ( IF we can even get that LOL) oh well! lots of free baby sitters nearby - cant beat that!

lol Howard Beach - in Queens

the cheapest house is like $600K but those are usually the tiniest houses that havent been fixed in years

FH and I went to look at a house that had a VISIBLE crack in the roof and one side of the roof was actually FALLING off . . . they were still asking OVER $600K!!!! we had only seen it at night so when we walked up to see it in the day we turned RIGHT BACK AROUND and ran away, lol anyways - someone bought it, knocked it down and now there is a brand new house there

so for any decent sized house, that is not a fixer upper its definitely over $800K but most of the nicer houses are closer to one milliOn - so depressing!!

Can you understand NOW why we are considering making my parents' house a two family and living there?!

I totally understand. The house next door to me went for 1.2 million and the one across the street was 1.4 million. It's crazy!!!! We went looking and the lowest we could find was about $600 also. and it was horrible. And there was a huge tree right in the middle of the yard and it was a very small yard. and there were only 2 bedrooms and they were in the attic!!!

I dont know about you - BUT i dont understand how we ( meaning my family) can live in a neighborhood with million dollar homes bc we are DEFINITELY not millionaires LOL

it helps my parents bought the house in 1967 and i think it was less than $15K!

Wow, i didnt know that, you can definately get a house alot cheaper than that in Nassau County. Yea the taxes are a little bit higher, but im sure the property size is bigger than in queens.
We just bought a great house for 425k with a great big yard!, we are putting a big ingound pool too.

yeah that whole thing about LI having higher taxes doesnt really apply when the houses are $500K HIGHER in NYC lol - i think that only really mattered when they were a little closer in price!

My cousin just bought a house in Massapequa Park and FH and I are in LOVE with the area. . . we cry every time we have to leave there but we want to stay close to our parents ( i dont know why we dont like them that much, HA jk)

Yeah my parents bought our house in 1977. I am not sure how much but i know it wasn't no where near 1 million...lol
