Bridges of Long Island
I have sent this to a lot in email to try to help Deacon Brett of my Church spread the word on this cause....
Bridges of Long Island will be opening a 25 bed facility in Nassau County to house men upon their release from jail. In the NY Metro area, the abuse of drugs and alcohol is causing an epidemic of major proportions-one of every five homes is dealing with problems related to addiction. Almost 90% of the inmates at Nassau County Correctional Center are incarcerated because of drug and alcohol related crimes.
The program they will be using has been proven successful for the past 30 years by Bridges of America. The individuals who have experienced the Bridge program have consistently shown a significantly lower rate of recidivism than those who have been released directly into the general population.
ON October 17, 2003 - Bridges of Long Island held its first annual recognition dinner at the Chateau Briand. The honorees were Bishop Frank Costantino, founder of Bridges of America, Denis Dillon, District Attorney of Nassau County and Robert Moore, Founder and Director of DART(Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Treatment)
You can send a donation of whatever you would like to give to help Bridges of Long Island if you want to at: Bridges of Long Island at 50 St. Thomas Place, Malverne, NY 11565. You can also visit their website at
