Ok, in your opinion since we're all on the same boat here, what would your reaction be??
FSIL just found out she's pregnant and due Jan next year. Our wedding is in June. She not only want to bring the baby to the RH but want to carry it down the isle. She just told me casually this weekend but also mentioned it to my sister so I think she is serious. FH's big request was to have her and her husband part of the bp along with her 3 kids. Fine, I gave in, but now with this?? We are having 16 yr old as the cutoff for the reception. What would you do???
I initially thought that the baby shouldn't be out to a party that late with a loud band but that's not really my decision. But I really think she wants to take the spotlight! Bridzilla or not of me??
ETA: So I think i'm gonna wait it out a bit, see if she changes her mind. But if she keeps telling people this I'll talk to FH asap and make sure we get this cleared up. Thanks for all your opinions!

Re: Bridzilla towards FSIL??
you could always go the route of i really want you to be able to enjoy yourself, and when you are worrying about the baby all night it's hard...maybe explain it that way, and tell her this is the reason you wanted an adult only reception
it's not her first baby right?

Holding the baby while walking down the isle?? I think thats taking it a little tooooooo far. I understand she'll be excited about the birth of her new child BUT! it is your day. I mean it's up to you wether you invite the child to your party or not, i think inviting an infant is harmless, I do understand your concern about it being out too late but if it's parents dont seem to care, why should you?
I would definitly draw the line tho, if she cant respect your wishes, then she needs to rethink why she's in the wedding in the first place! - to support YOU!
and no i dont think your being a bridezilla!

Grandma should hold the baby and FSIL should hold the bo-k. Spotlight is on you, not on the 5 month old being traipsed down the aisle.

Totally agree.
There are only a few things I'd be Bride-zilla about - This would be one of them.

no no, its her 4th!! I have her other 3 kids (14,12,7 by the wedding) already in the bp. I didn't really wanna put her n her husband but FH like begged me.
I haven't opened my mouth to FH yet cuz maybe she'll change her mind... hopefully

Re: Bridzilla towards FSIL??
If it were me, I wouldn't care cus there are so many other things I have to worry about. But its not me- its you and if it bothers you, you really need to say something. Maybe try talking to your FH first and see if he will talk to her, or try talking to her yourself. Its a lil weird she would just assume she can do that and not ask you first. That would bother me.

maybe this is a battle for your FH. might be easier to hear it from him, so you don't take the brunt of it!

Baby Bouquet.......
You are right. That's just too much. No baby down aisle. Even mommy brides don't carry baby down aisle.
As FH says: 'weddings are no place for kids'

Re: Bridzilla towards FSIL??
I agree with you and the majority no baby on her hip and as far as the RH, I would leave that up to the mom, if her other 3 kids are there, then what can you do? But it will be her night that is ruined, by all 4 kids! I would leave it alone for a while, maybe she'll change her mind. Then if she brings it up again, just tell her you would rather her leave the baby with someone like the GP's so she can carry her bo-k. Your all about symetry or something! And since the other BM's won't have babies than she can't either!!!
Sorry I do not like the idea walking the baby down the isle that would look silly.

Re: Bridzilla towards FSIL??
I was at a wedding where the GM and BM carried their baby down the aisle. They were the parents of the baby, and it was the neice of the bride/groom. I thought it was a nice way to include the whole family. But I wouldn't want that at my wedding!

Re: Bridzilla towards FSIL??
Um, so the baby will be 6 months old? What if she cries the whole time? This seems absurd to me and I would definitely NOT want my BM to hold a baby walking down the aisle! I have never seen such a thing!!!! How will FSIL hold her bouquet?? I am almost laughing at the ridiculousness of it, but I feel bad that it puts you in a weird position. It kind of sounds like this person will not be happy unless she gets everything her way...but it's not her wedding. You and your FH should not have to cater to her, even if they are close. JMO!!!!!!!

Re: Bridzilla towards FSIL??
ok, i'll be the minority here and ask 'what does your FH want?'...if he's okay with it and WANTS it then why argue. its his wedding too and it seems as though he wants his entire family to partake. why is that wrong?
i think you should choose your battles wisely. i dont think it will take any attention away from you because by the time the doors are opened for your grand entrance they'll be down the aisle already and forgotten.
i think you should talk to your FH and come to some kind of compromise on the situation. JMO.

Re: Bridzilla towards FSIL??
let me tell you one thing..on your wedding day, you will not care at all who is walking down what and where
you will be focused on your husband
if this is important to him the just let him do it
trust me- i got sick to my stomach over stupid little detaisl and at the end of the day there are so many other things to worry about

Re: Bridzilla towards FSIL??
I agree, on the day of your wedding it won't bother you at all.
But just to let you know... I was just at BIL's wedding on saturday and the bride's sister had her 7 month old baby at the church and the reception. Her aunt watched him at the church b/c her and her DH were both in the wedding party (they didn't walk down with the baby). He was in a little tux and he took pics with us at the church after the ceremony (he didn't make a peep). He was up the whole time at the reception and people took turns holding him and they even brought a little playpen to put him in while they ate. It was perfectly fine with him there! So, being that I just saw a baby at a wedding, I think it's fine to have a baby there... just as long as the parents are willing to feed, hold and play with their baby at the wedding.
Her sister's baby is actually a VERY good baby though, but the mother said if he wasn't a good baby they probably would have left him with someone for the reception part.
