Maybe she's not comfortable coming alone since he husband can't make it - a lot of people aren't. I would take her feelings into consideration and it hardly sounds like she is doing something hurtful to you.

MY Fi cousin did the same thing at his brothers wedding and I thought that was rude--but to top it off the friend she brought had sex in the parking lot with a groomsmen----
so of course that cousin is not invited with a guest cause she already told her she is bringing the same friend--and wouldnt you know this is causing a minor/major family problem because my FMIL feels that the cousin should be invited with a guest---even after we told her the story--go figure--this is one of those things I am standing my ground on--def dont want someone like that at my wedding---
