Bringing it wayyyyy back-Roller skating

Back in the day did you used to go roller skating? iI so, what were some of the tunes you enjoyed skating to ?

Here some I loved:

Eternal Flame - The Bangles (remember slow skate)

I remember roller skating at the rink in East Meadow. God I forgot the name since it has been so long and yes I was on the floor more than skating. But I still enjoyed it.

hahaha i think you're talking about United Skates of America--I had like 5 birthday parties there...loved that place!

I only skated when friends had roller themed birthday parties...the only song I remember for some reason is 'Jump for my Love' by the Pointer Sisters. Can't really jump in roller skates though

Sorry about the confusion. I was trying to remember the name. I also went to United Skate for many parties but lived right next door to the East Meadow one so hung out there alot.

we used to go for lessons on saturday mornings every so often when i was about 7 or 8; we'd go for birthdays and scouting events too. Usually to the rink in Northport or the one in Commack. It was a lot of fun.

I remember going to one called LACES for birthday parties all the time when I was younger. I remember it had a main larger rink and a smaller 'practice' rink. I was okay at it but not great. I still remember my skates were white with red wheels & laces lol.

Laces is where I went
. Always the name!
The practice rink was always full of people and sometimes the 'experts' from the larger rink would come show off or give lessons .

I went for bday parties, school functions, ONCE IN AWHILE I went with friends' parents..

My roller rink got bad before I was able to go for fun..

I only went a handful of times; 2 birthday parties and once with camp i think. Or was it the school? I dont remember now and I STUNK but I used to love it. I wish I'd learned to rollerblade.

I had a skating birthday party. There was an awesome Rink in W. babylon called studio 109. It closed when I was about 9 :(. I used to go to BayShore rink every Friday night when I was in 9th grade. It was the thing to do. Pour some sugar on me from Def Leppard and Lean on me were big hits then.

Sorry to crash!!! Awesome post, so I had to answer.

Commack Roller Rink baby! We would spend every Saturday there until it was knocked down. We were such rink rats!!! I couldn't do too many tricks, but we could do some dances.

I'm actually considering joining a Roller derby league (my friends are actually part of one here on the Island) at LI Skates.
