broadway show suggestion

My sisters and I were thinking about chipping in together to get broadway tix for my parents for christmas....anyone have an suggestions on good shows that aren't going to be ridiculously expensive?

Lion King seems to be the most expensive, followed by Mamma ***, It all depends on the day and time of the show, and of course - seat location.

I am taking my mom to see Blue Man Group - its not on Broadway but still a pretty entertaining show for the family. Tickets are pretty reasonable - all under $100/person.

hmmm yea i don't know my dad is kind of difficult to please....i don't know my idea was just to get them a gift certificate to go out to dinner but my sister didn't like that.

Actually the day and time don't influence the price of the tickets unless it's during a big holiday week; I work in the theatre industry, specifically in the ticketing division. Only the seat location affects the prices during the bulk of the year.

You can always search online for promotional codes to a show for deals. I highly recommend Jersey Boys! I've seen a lot of shows (thanks to my job ) and I always suggest Jersey Boys when people are looking to buy gifts for their parents.

If your parents were flower children, then Hair is also something you'd like to consider!

My FH doesn't go with me to a lot of shows because it's just not his thing. That's cool with me; I'd rather go with someone who wants to be there or go alone.

He went with me to Jersey Boys and LOVED it. I've taken him to a bunch of shows and this one he still raves about...a year after we saw it.

Re: broadway show suggestion

I would love for my parents to see Jersey boys but I don't have the money to cover what my sisters cannot this year since those tickets are going to be pretty expensive for two. It's so sad but I just can't do that right now with planning the wedding
Any other suggestions? A different, more affordable gift suggestion perhaps??

Go to your local library and ask them for twofer (sp?) tickets. They have them for a lot of different shows and the tickets are usually 1/2 price compared to what they are at the box office.
I would also highly recommend West Side Story and Hair.

What about getting them a gift card to telecharge or ticketmaster? That way they can make their own choice about what to see

i guess i could they just never really go out that much together..that's the weird thing. my sister is like pushing for us to get broadway tix but this would be the first time they would see a broadway show so i don't think they would know what 2 see

Bye Bye Birdie is supposed to be good.

I will always suggest Wicked, it's an amazing show.

I LOVED Avenue Q! But if your parents are on the prude side I dont think that show would be good for them. How about Wicked?

I highly recommend HAIR! I saw it with my uncle (who is 60s and grew up in that era) and it was fantastic. I thought it was going to be too dated for me to enjoy but i really LOVED it... GREAT cast, great music, just very fun. I'd see it again. you might get a good deal since its a revival and not as hyped as Wicked (etc) since its been around before.
