Broadway Shows

We wanted to get my parents tickets to a Broadway show as a thank you present for the wedding. And we're also going to get a gift certificate to their favorite city restaurant.

They have seen tons of broadways shows, though I can't remember all of them right now. Anyone have any suggestions of shows that would be good for them?? They are in their late 50's...

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Deanna. I bet your parents would LOVE Jersey Boys.............if they like Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons then go for it!

ETA: I just saw you mentioned HAIR. They'd probably love that too. I saw it with my mom and sister. Were your parents hippies and flower children? If so, they'd definitely love it. My mom was in her glory!

Re: Broadway Shows

What are some shows that they've liked?

My parents are obsessed with Jersey Boys - seriously they've seen it twice on Broadway and also in Vegas. I enjoyed it a lot, though not quite as much as they and their friends do.

Recently, they saw Hair and really enjoyed that.

There is a revival of Ragtime currently in previews, and while I can't say anything about that production as I haven't seen it, I will say that the original production was one of my all time favorite shows, and am super psyched to see the new one.

I got my mom and aunt tickets to Billy Elliot this month, but I don't know if that is a 'dad' show.

West Side Story is always a classic, and while I personally didn't care for this revival, I am weird and plently of people loved it.

My mom also mentioned wanting to see Bye Bye Birdie.

If your parents have less mainstream tastes, Next to Normal is phenomenal.

Wow...thanks for all the suggestions!!

They def saw Jersey Boys, Wicked, Lion King, Mama ***, Phantom...and a few more...

My dad was a super hippie but my mom was a goodie two shoes so I'm not sure if she would appreciate Hair...

I was seriously looking into Memphis...not sure if is is too ironic since it's about a interracial couple and me and FH are also a interracial couple LOL
