My Fiance just left for the NYS Environmental Conservation Officer Academy in Oswego NY. He will be gone for 6 months. He can come home on the weekend but it's 7 hours away. It is costing us so much money. He will be home in June & we are getting married in July. He just told me that he may not be able to get the days off for our honeymoon. I'm so sad....

Re: Broke & Lonely
OMG -- that stinks!! But it's for a better long-term goal right? So it'll be worth it. Hang in there, 6 months will fly by. And you always have us here so you don't feel so lonely!

ITA with Jimmysbride. It will seem tough know but the long term results will be worth it. Is it possible you can do a weekend getaway now and plan a really nice honeymoon later? I know its not the same but it may help somewhat. I bet though with the wedding planning the time will go faster than you think. Good luck!

Thanks girls. I know it will get easier. The first few weeks are always the hardest.

Re: Broke & Lonely
I know how you feel... although my FH is local, he too is in an academy and has no time for anything else. We probably won't get to go on a honeymoon either But, the best is that we are getting married - we'll do the honeymoon another time. Hang in there - six months will pass before you know it!

I'm sure everything will work out. In the meantime, you have us to keep you company. I know it's not the same, but it's a start.

Re: Broke & Lonely
Hi and welcome to the world of long distance engagements. I know how you feel. I left JT in MA in July to find a job here and it's been tough. But I have to say, these months have FLOWN by. We usually would see eachother every other weekend and most times he had to work during the day and I would only see him a couple of hours at night, but it was better than nothing. I know it's a 7 hour drive as compared to a 4 and a half that I had, but let me tell you, you will do what you have to in order to see your love. Meet half way, talk on the phone a lot. You will make your time together count more for now. But what I found happened is that my personal relationships outside from mine with JT really improved a lot, so look at it as time for your friendships and relationships with family to grow, too. I promise you it will go quickly and if you ever need to talk, let me know! He's doing this to better your future, and that's a commendable thing. Imagine having to LEAVE for 6 months, rather than be left for 6 months. It's just as hard, if not harder.
