Brooklyn Bridal shower

Brooklyn Bridal shower

My brother is getting married in June.

i called his future mother in law to inquire about a shower and she had not even considered it.

She said she didnt think her dtr needed one. So i played the nice girl and convinced her it would be a nice gesture, even if it is a get together in her house for close family and friends.

So now 2 days later she agreed on doing it if we could help her find a place, inquire about prices and she wants everyone to either pay for their own meal or do pot luck if it is in her house.

So does anyone know of affordable restaurants in Brooklyn for a small bridal shower.

i live in CA and am not familiar with restaurants.

It is like pulling teeth with this bridal shower but I thnk my brother and his future wife deserve it!

So please, Help!!!!

the bride lives in Brooklyn, so there is no preference on where in Bklyn.

I am assuming It will only be about 15 people or less.

Only the grooms mom and sisters are invited, so it will just be her friends and family.

And i know her mom doesnt want to pay too much $ since she wasnt going to do it in the first place.

My friends mom had a baby shower at China NEw Star on Flatbush avenu its a big place and they would put you in the back where they can put up a screen so you are by yourself.....I am going to figure out somewhere else...Marias on emmons avenue in sheepshead probably would be able to do something also.

Any type of food you were looking for???

thats a good idea. My mother of the bride lives right over there.

Ill let her know!

Someone had mentioned Buckleys, I've never been there but it looks like a hole in the wall. Yet every time i drive by there is a party going on. I guess you shouldn't judge a place by its looks! haha

Buckley's actually has very good food and inside isnt bad at all. Its more old school but still nice. =) We had my moms surprise party there and they did a great job...

Also look at Gino's in Bay Ridge. Amazing Italian food and you can get a back room by yourself but I think the min is 20 people for the small room though... But great prices for such amazing food.

Is there a bridal party? Maybe the MOH can give some ideas too? She would probably know what the bride would like (hopefully). What kind of food does the bride like? I work in Brooklyn----there are SO MANY restaurants----it would help to know what she likes.

PS----Forgot to add that I think it's very sweet of u to do this for her!

Awww, that bride would prob. be so disappointed if she didn't have a shower. You are very sweet to take on this big role in planning one.

I went to my FSIL's shower at Buckley's and it was ok. It took forever for the food to come out and that was a little disaapointing. Her rehearsal dinner was there too and still just ok. I think that it is hit or miss there. FH grew up going to parties there (we've seriously been to like 4 in the past 2 years) and he says it isn't as good as it used to be. I wouldn't consider it a hole in the wall though. I think his mom paid about $29 a person for his sister's shower there.

We are having our rehearsal at Chianti's in Bay Ridge and it was surprisingly cheaper than most italian restaurants we looked at. Try calling there. Also, maybe look into a Knights of Columbus. I am going to a baby shower in a few weeks at the one on Nostrand but don't know what it's like. There is also Mama Rao's in Dyker that has good italian food - went to a party there and it was good. If I think of any others, I'll let you know.

Goodfella's in Bay Ridge is pretty good. I had a grad party there and my mom says it wasnt that expensive, however that was a bit of time ago. Someone mentioned Chianti's. I dont know about the price but the place is nice (some good looking waiters lol) and the food is really good.

That is actually where my mom threw my shower. It was very nice. Not fancy - my mom was on a budget, and there was excellent service. I don't know what it cost, but I know it couldn't have been too much.

Greenhouse cafe in Bay Ridge is nice, but I don't know if its prices are still a little to high.

Here are some of the better places:

greenhouse Cafe in Bay Ridge - Very good
Casa Pepe - they have a Sunday brunch
Il Fornetto in Sheepshead Bay right on the water (beautiful)
New Corners on 8th avenue & 72nd St. Very good Italian and they have reasonable party menus.
The Schnitzel Haus (German) on 5th Ave & 74 St. Can be very reasonable.
Good Luck
