The area is safe. I was never afraid being there at night. Its convenience depends on where you are coming from. It is at the end of the 2/5 line.

Yes, it is. It's in the Flatbush/Midwood part of Brooklyn.

yes - I went to Midwood high school and took a summer course at Bklyn college.

it is a few blocks away from Flatbush ave, which starts to be a not so nice area, but the college itself is fine. There are security desks at most entrances.

I don't know. I got a full scholarhsip to Brooklyn and I knew I didn't want to go when I went to the campus. There was all kinds of gang-related graffiti in various places on the campus, even inside the classrooms, which kind of made me uneasy, so I was like 'no way!' But other people knw the areas a lot better than I dp

It's not the best area of Brooklyn, not the worst either. It's safe enough. A LOT of my friends went to Brooklyn College and none of them have ever mentioned ANYTHING about problems with gangs in the area. There's certainly graffiti in the area, but it's not necessarily gang related.

It was recently voted as one of the most beautiful college campuses in the nation.

Wow, that's a really odd experience. I started atteding in 97 and recently went back and I have NEVER seen grafitti.

I live across the street from BC and attend and will say once again...it's a beautiful campus and the neighborhood is safe enough...it's in Brooklyn, in NYC...definitely safer than others (like Bed-Stuy or Crown Heights) but it's not a quiet little LI town.

It was voted one of America's Best Colleges in 2006 by

Do you have any particular questions? Are you concerned about the college, living nearby, the commute or something else?
