brother problems...

brother problems...

So... after a whole lot of deliberating, FH and I decided NOT to have my brother as a groomsman.
A little background info: my brother and I fight... a lot.... and so one week we are BFF's and the next week we are completely PO'ed at each other. He's like that with everyone in my family though - thats just who he is. And when we fight, we really fight!
So, 5 years ago, my sister had him in her bridal party, and he complained & was all in a bad mood because he didnt feel included and he didnt know any of the guys.
So, yesterday he calls my mom and tells her that hes annoyed that i havent asked him or his wife to be in our bridal party. meanwhile, he has 2 kids who are both mama's boy/girls and would just whine the whole time for their mom if she was in it. And i didnt want a repeat from my sisters wedding of him being all grumpy. Soooo, what do i do. If i do ask him, it will be for all the wrong reasons... and if i dont ask him he'll hold one of his grudges and not talk to me for awhile again!!
it seems like a lose-lose situation to me.
We do want his family as part of the wedding - his wife is very involved in my planning & we wanted him to do a reading... and we wanted his kids to walk down the aisle too!
Sorry so long - but just trying to bring up all my points. what would you do???

I think that if its going to cause more problems down the road by NOT asking him then you should ask him, you don't wanna hear for next 30 years everytime you guys have a spat how you never had him in your wedding. Think it through before deciding.

I would say this:

'Hey bro, you were really put-off when you were in sister's wedding... and I want you to ENJOY my wedding so I don't want the responsibility of being in my bridal party to stop you from enjoying yourself, but I do want to recognize you as an important part of my life... what do you think?'

See what he WANTS to do and go from there.

I wouldn't ask him because he sounds like one of those people who will find a way to be unhappy either way. I would ask he and his wife to do a reading and have their kids be involved and tell them that they are trying to be sensitive to the kids being with their mom at the ceremony and that they have a family.

I think this is a GREAT way to handle this - puts all the responsiblity on his shoulders not yours

I have a similar situation with one of my brothersd AND his bitchy wife,
So to avoid all of the political BS, I just nixed the whole BP.
Only MOH and BM.
