Brother/Sister Dance

My father has been out of my life for a very long time and will not be at my wedding. My older brother has always kind of filled that father role, and I we are very close, so I wanted to honor him at our wedding by having a special dance, just for us. The problem is I can't seem to find ANY songs taht make sense. They are all about falling in love, or father/daughter or just seem plain weird. I'm open to any and all suggestions! please help! THANKS!

What about Celine Dions 'Because You Loved Me'?? Thats pretty universal!

How about:
James Taylor- You've Got A Friend
Kenny Rogers- Through The Years
Faith Hill- There You'll Be
Nat King Cole/Natalie Cole- Unforgettable
Bette Midler- Wind Beneath My Wings
Lee Ann Womack- I Hope You Dance

Re: Brother/Sister Dance

I am not close with my father at all. My mother never re-married but has been dating/living together with someone who basically is my stepfather. I am also close with my mother's father and my brother. I think I am going to do a general song, like 'I Hope you Dance' by Lee Ann Womak and have each of them go to a corner of the dance floor so I can change off and dance with them all. I also going to do a seperate song for my mother and I to dance to.

I danced with my brother to this song at my wedding.

I'm using either 'I'll be There' by the Jackson 5 (I can't deal with the Mariah version) or 'You've Got a Friend' by James Taylor.

Im dancing to this song with my dad, but I could see it work for a brother/sister as well

In My Life - The Beatles.

I'm dancing to 'Stand By Me' Ben E. King... i'm starting off with my dad for the first verse, but he has MAJOR hip/leg trouble so my brother will cut in after that and finish it off with me. :)
I liked that song since i'm not a mushy daddy's girl type and i wont feel weird dancing with my brother to it!

There is a Dave Matthews Song called 'Sister' that is very sweet. Might be hard to dance to but the words are nice.
A small part of the song:

Playing like we used to play
Like it would never go away
I feel you beating in my chest
I’d be dead without

(Chorus)
Sister, I hear you laugh
My heart fills full up
Keep me please
Sister, when you cry
I feel your tears
Running down my face
Sister, sister, you keep me

I hope you always know it’s true
I would never make it through
You could make the heavens fall
Just by walking away

(Chorus)
Sister, I hear you laugh
My heart fills full up
Keep me please
Sister, when you cry
I feel your tears
Running down my face
Sister, sister, you keep me

Or...
Billy Joel, 'Just the way you are'
Mariah Carey, 'Anytime you need a fried'
Jack Johnson ' Better Together'
Kenny Rogers 'Through the Years'

There You'll Be - Faith Hill
I Hope You Dance - Leann Womack (Someone already suggested this but I wanted to second it . My cousin danced with her brother to this at her wedding)

For You I Will by Monica. I think it is the prefect song for a brother / sister dance:

Print: Monica - For You I Will Lyrics print version

Yes, when you're feeling lost in the night
When you feel your world just ain't right
Call on me, I will be waiting
Count on me, I will be there
Anytime the times get too tough
Anytime your best ain't enough
I'll be the one to make it better
I'll be there to protect you, see you through
I'll be there, and there is nothing, I won't do

1-I will cross the ocean for you
I will go and bring you the moon
I will be your hero, your strength, anything you need
I will be the sun in your sky
I will light your way for all time, promise you
For you I will, yes yeah, yeah

I will shield your heart from the rain
I won't let no harm come your way
Oh, these arms will be your shelter
No, these arms won't let you down
If there is a mountain to move
I will move that mountain for you

I'm here for you, I'm here forever
I will be your fortress tall and strong
I'll keep you safe, I'll stand beside you right or wrong
(rpt 1)

Lay my life on the line, for you I will fight, oh
For you I will die, with every breath, with all my soul
I'll give my word, I'll give it all
Put your faith in me, put your faith in me
And I'll do anything...oh...
(rpt 1)

I will... oh...

Re: Brother/Sister Dance

'Sister' by the Nixons
Sister

Here I am again, again ... overwhelming feelings
Thousand miles away from your ocean home.
Part of me is near
Thoughts of what we were invade
The miles that stand between, can't separate
Your all I hoped you'd become
Sister I see you - dancing on the stage of memory
Sister I miss you
Fleeting visits pass still they satisfy
Reminders of the next overshadow good-bye
Our flames burn as one

Sister I see you - dancing on the stage of memory
Sister I miss you
All I am begins with you, thoughts of hope understood
Half of me breathes in you, thoughts of love remain true
Here we are again saying good-bye
Still we fall asleep underneath the same sky
You're all I knew you'd become

Sister I see you - dancing on the stage of memory
Sister I miss you
Entwined, you and I, our souls speak from across the miles
Intertwined, you and I, our blood flows from the same inside
I see you walking there....
See you walking in my mind...

I thought I was the only who had to do this

However my brother right now is in Iraq since he is in the army... He will get out just in time for my wedding and I want to have a special dance with him so I am doing 'Far Away' by Nickelback... MOre of a love song and not the traditional slowwww song but it fits our relationship since he is so far away.
