brunch for guests

I have a lot of guests that will be staying at the hotel and my mom mentioned maybe doing a brunch the next day- i was wondering if anyone else is doing this? we really dont have the extra cash- so i wanted to see if it was something i could cut out or is that rude?

I dont think that people would be offended if you DON'T have it - it's a really nice gesture, but i dont think it's necessary if it's not in your budget. we would like to be able to do that, but I dont think we can within our budget either.

my excuse is that the next day im just gonna want to sleep in and relax, its gonna be a LOOOOOONG day the day before, is it wrong to feel like this? lol...plus not sure when we're leaving for the HM yet so really would like to get in a day of just relaxing before we do leave for the hm

My cousin did it for his wedding and it was at like noon and we were all there...tired!!! it was a nice gesture but honestly dont stress it if you dont decide to do it.

Im doing a casual one at my apartment. ill buy platters from like BJs or a deli and order bagels. Im keeping it simple. I think its nice if you have a lot of people from out of town. its a good way to see everyone again before you and they leave. I don't think anyone expects anything too fancy.

I don't think its rude unless a lot of people are from out of town- then I think its nice so you can spend time with them.

I dont think a lot of people expect it. We are having one, but I doubt any of FH's family- other than his immediate family- will come. Most of them live on the island. All my family is OOT as are my parents friends and a bunch of my friends. SO we really have to have one so we can see everyone before they leave. But if we were having 90% in town or nearby people, I doubt we would have one.

Re: brunch for guests

Im doing it because I look at it this way ..they stayed so they could enjoy my day....the least I can do is feed them before they take off.....Just like you would offer to feed someone who stayed the night at your house

We decided not to do the brunch because we are having an after party after our reception. We figured that 5.5 hours between the ceremony and the reception and an additional say 3 hours for the after party...we'll have had enough of them and them of us!!!!

Re: brunch for guests

we're not doing one. i don't think it's rude to not have one. i'd never even heard of it before joining online wedding planning groups.

the way i see it is that it's not like we invited them to come for no reason, it's not like we said, hey come give us gifts and you get nothing...
we are providing them with an excellent party to attend with a ton of food and an open bar.

besides, i wanna sleep in. the wedding day is going to be a looooong one. I'd like to sleep in and enjoy my first morning of waking up with my husband without rushing to get somewhere.
