BTDT Mommies - ?

How early can a baby start teething and what are some signs? Ryan has not been himself these last three days - lots of hands in mouth, rubbing eyes and nose and face, lots of drooling. Everything else seems normal...could he be teething at almost 4 months???

Thomas has been teething since about 3 months........lots of drool........hands in mouth.........and sometimes not himself because of it.........Gonna be 5 months on the 11th of Sept. but no teeth yet.I read that they usually start teething somewhere around 4 months but the first tooth doesn't appear till almost 6 months.........It's a long road ahead of us.............

Absolutley. My nephew started at 3 months. My son started at 6 months and at 13 months he has all his teeth except for two. Each child is different. One of the stories I heard is that if both the parents teethed early most likely the child will too. Seems that's partially genetic.

How early a child starts to teethe can be directly related to how early his parents started. Jeff and I both cut our first teeth early, and Paul had his first tooth by 4 mos.

Those are pretty much all the signs -- and it can go on for months with no teeth in sight! The boys started all of that at about 3 1/2 months and the first tooth for each popped out at 8 months (about a week apart!) The second came a week later for each and that's all we have! And their collars are still so wet constantly! I must change bibs every half hour!

Dampen a washcloth, put it in a ziploc baggie and throw it in the freezer. If he starts to complain of teething pain, hand him the washcloth to knaw on.

Cold teethers are good, but they recommend not freezing them now, so they become warm too fast.

Do not give him Baby Oragel unless you speak to his pediatrician first. The doc may reccommend infant Tylenol or Motrin, b/c sometimes the Oragel can cause reactions, and you do not want that!
