BTDT Potty Training-----

Alex loves following us to the bathroom. he sits on his potty when we go 'potty' and even wants to flush, after WE finish. DH thinks we should start or try to start to potty train... I read that boys are much harder and take much longer to train than girls.. (I helped with my two nieces)...

Can anyone recommend a good book (or books) or tapes or videos or SOMETHING that I can try to really figure out if he's ready.

--I forgot to ask the Dr. and we were just there on thursday.. UGH!!!!

Re: BTDT Potty Training-----

Absolutely, if he is interested NOW, don't miss the opportunity. We love 'Everyone Poops', it goes through all animals and shows what there poop is like and where they poop, etc and really gives a 'community' feel to the issue of pooping (ha-ha). It works great!! You can also buy a baby who pees and have your son bring the dll to the potty to go after he goes, then have a Poopy Party. My daugher jut turned 18 months and has not pooped in her diaper for the past week because we have followed her ques and she wants to use the toilet!! Good luck, another milestone complete!

Re: BTDT Potty Training-----

ok.. then my next question goes... Do I just take his diaper off and let him in the bathroom without it?? Do i 'show' him to sit and tuck his penis in the potty hole... ?? I am so clueless.. and a little worried I am going to get peed on!!! LOL

Re: BTDT Potty Training-----

You have 2 choices, you can either take the diaper off and follow him around all day putting him on the potty every hour, or you can buy double ply training pants. If you put them on him it will trap the pee and be uncomfortable for him so he will learn that he does not want to be wet, and te other benefit of this is that yoir carpet/floors will remain pretty dry.
Let him follow around your husband for the day, and every hr bring him to the potty!! Have fun!!!
