Bucket Clan-Chief needs some support

Clan-I'm sorry I haven't been around much this week. Chief is having a very tough and sorrowful week. My younger brother is very sick-his doctors think he has MS. He needs to have 2 more tests to confirm this. He's not even 28 yet. Then-on top of this, my mother in law just called me to tell me my sister-in-law, who was 4 months pregnant, lost her baby. Chief is devasted and could use some clan love and peaceful thoughts.... I have missed you all terribly this past week and promise that next week will be better. -Chief Sitting Bucket

Oh Leelee..I am so sorry to hear about all the trials you and your family are going through. I will be thinking of you and them and keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Here are some hugs for you sweetie and I am sure that there will be many many more. Stay strong.

I am sorry for you that you are going through this. Please know that you have the love of all of your buckets.

Please make sure that your brother has a second opinion and an eye exam-- MS is unusual in men that young. As bad as MS is, it is not terminal and it effects everyone differently and progresses differently. For some reason MS is most commonly diagnosised through an eye exam.

Starry Night Bucket has been overwhelmed at work and home due to quickly approaching wedding and has not been around for the past week or so. But she wishes to offer support and love to Chief Sitting Bucket in her time of need.

In all seriousness, I was diagnosed with 'possible' MS two years ago. I went through the MRIs, spinal tap, second opinions, etc. and I know how scared your brother must be. It is a very difficult disease to diagnose and in the end I did not have enough of the criteria to be officially diagnosed with anything. So I have 'disease of the central nervous system, unspecified.' But, really it is benign MS, but they wont call it that until I have gone through the misery of yearly MRIs of the brain (I have one small lesion) for ten to fifteen years. And I get random stabbing pains in my limbs, occasionall blurred vision in one eye and if I get too hot (especially in the shower), I see spots and feel like I am going to pass out. Those things are not so bad. The key is not letting that 10% chance that I may develop full blown MS prevent me from living my life to the fullest.

It took two and a half months of thinking I had MS to get to the end result. Right up until the last appointment with my neurologist after all the testing, he had told me that I needed to start taking daily injections (I hate needles) to control the disease and then on the last visit he said, 'you know, looking at all of the results together, I really don't think you can be diagnosed with MS at this time,' so no drugs.

But I can tell you that when my aunt was diagnosed with MS in the late 70s, there was NOTHING medically that could be done to help her. They know so much more about the disease these days. It is no longer the sentance that it was back then. There are several different drugs that can be prescribed and it is now recognized that there are different levels of the disease. There is a lot of info on the web if you want to look into it. I know I did!
