My FH and I are just beginning to plan for our May '07 wedding and we are arguing about the cost and how much we need to save... Can somebody just give me a ball park on what I should expect to spend on the big things....flowers, photographer, limos, DJ, hair and make-up, invitations?? We already booked the hall and I have an idea for my dress.
Thanks!!!!

Re: Budget
it all depends on how much you want to spend...and on what...like if the hall is more important than the photo....
i'm budgeting $35-40k for 200 guests...here's waht i'm spending so far (estimate)

Re: Budget
Try using the budget calculator on the knot. That may give you some idea as to where all the money goes and if the numbers that you and your FI are proposing are actually doable.
I think budget is something you constantly have to adjust, if you come in too low, you could be very surprised how fast it goes, you also have to consider what is most important to you, a great party? perfect flowers, the best dress? work at making your budget based on one or two things that are top priority and then adjust other things to fit into the budget, hope that makes sense

Re: Budget
It really depends. Most of the cost will come from the reception hall.
I spent more on photographer and videographer then I expected.

Re: Budget
Don't forget to add in your wedding bands, jewelry, gifts for BMs, GM, etc.., tips the day of your wedding and all little costs (which add up) - menu, program, card holder, favors, bathroom basket, slipper basket, unity candles and any other extra you plan on doing. It all adds up, even when you are watching the money..

Re: Budget
Quotes I got for 110 people:
Reception: 6K-13K (sans tax and service charge)
Flowers $700-$1400 (just for bouquets and centerpieces)
Music ($750 - !600 for reception alone
Photo and video $1600 -$4000 (depending edited vs unedited video and whether you get the parent albums, proofs, negatives, etc)
Limos ($800-$3000)
Officiant - $350 - $1100 (for 1/2 hour ceremony)
Honeymoon and w-bands - those run the gamut

I am a Lombardi's on the Sound bride too. I am spending more than I thought, but I am having a band and they are more money. I thought I would spend 35,000 but I am spending more I would say flowers around 3000, limos around 1200, DJ? maybe 2000, Hair for bride around 150 and make-up too, Invites anywhere from 300- 600. Photographer - maybe around 2800-5000 depending on what you want. It depends on how many people you are having too. You could probably do it in the 30,000 range.
