i give credit to all you ladies who managed to stay within buget..mine went out the window and i get sick thinking about the cost
i totally know what you are talking about. i went into this with such an unrealistic view of what i would spend. and i cant seem to control my spending. although, as much as i loved the inn at new hyde park, i couldnt spend the money for a sat night wedding there. I cant wait to see your pics...you'll have to post them. The place is AMAZING!!!

Re: BUDGET
All the power to ya if you can do it for that.. but that's gonna be tightttttttt.. Is it going to be a smaller wedding? You may wanna use that as a guideline, but be flexible bc photo/video and flowers can cost up to that alone

Re: BUDGET
For 100-120 our budget is 20,000. Right now I have it figured to be around 18000, but it will depend on if FH wants the Plasma Screens with the DJ or just a DJ/MC

Depends on where you want your wedding, number of people etc. My RH is going to cost$34,000 for 225 people...so mine is higher.
for the RH alone!
yup. am i insane? i'm starting to think so!!
Ummmm I'm just as insane!!! $40k for 235 people

Re: BUDGET
Ours is about 35,000 including the honeymoon and we invited 265 people! We will probably have about 225 there.
I think that 25,000 is feasible as long as you don't have a lot of people there!
BEST OF LUCK!

Re: BUDGET
We tried to set a budget, but once you get into the planning that number is usually thrown out the window. We had no idea how expensive everything for a wedding is. We did do alot of shopping around, and tried to get the lowest price as much as possible.
I say shop around and try to get as much as you can for your money's worth.

Re: BUDGET
i have to agree that it depends on what you want. I've come to learn that what usually happens is that the price you pay for the hall is doubled by the end (due to all the extra costs, like flowers, centerpieces, etc). So if you're budget is $25,000, just make sure you're not paying more than $12,500 for the RH.
I think that's a good budget to have. It's kind of ridiculous to go TOO over that, in my opinion

Re: BUDGET
Our budget is 27,000 and let me tell you, I am not having a small wedding. We are having 150 people and I am not scrimping on vendors or our RH either, the key for us was time of the year. Moving our wedding from fall to winter saved us so much $$$$ thousands. Vendors give you deep discounts for the winter because they have nothing going on at that time of the year. Some of the RH we looked at were 20-60 dollars cheaper in January than Oct. You can do a wedding on 25,000 you will have to use you budgeting skills but its doable don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: BUDGET
You can have a wedding for 100 people for $500,000 thousand or you can have a wedding for 100 people for 5,000...Honestly, there are SO many variables to having a wedding its hard to even suggest a budget unless you know exactly what you want and are willing to pay for. And there is always something you can add, to raise $$...I mean i have never heard the words 'PLUS, PLUS' more in my life than when i got engaged...o you like this hall, GREAT !!! its such and such amount PLUS TAX, PLUS GRATUTITY, o you want a fountain thats a PLUS, bathroom basket A PLUS, you like this resort, well you can be upgraded but that will be a PLUS PLUS...you see where im going with this....its up to you to set boundaries, I do not need a slipper basket, programs, plasmas, etc whatever it is that you can cut out. There are a ton of ways to splurge money and also to save money...pick what is important to you! good luck!

Re: BUDGET
nope not cheap at all - for 100 people our wedding was 15k (not including honeymoon and dress (my dress was 1,150 after alterations and was paid for my mother) we paid for our own wedding.
We wanted a 10k wedding but found out after pricing things out it was going to be hard since I wasn't willing to not have video.

Trying to keep it at $30,000 for 180 people. But include the honeymoon and up up it goes!

Re: BUDGET
We paid 40K for 112 people which I thought was very reasonble for Manhattan. We splurge on things that were important to us such as photography and invites. We cut back on things like flowers and wedding cake. Also, I had a very small wedding party with no ring bearer or flower girl so that was a savings too otherwise we would have to rent out another limo, order more BM bouqets, more wedding attandent gifts, etc. It's all up to you on where you want to splurge and how much you want to spend. Our HM was another 9K on top of that but it was all inclusive.

Ours is just about $52,000. My parents are putting in $40,000 and we are covering the rest with his parents as well. Yikes!

i agree with queenschic, go by what you can do and not what others are doing. Like she said, theres some ppl who can spend lets say $50k for 100 ppl and others who can do it for $15k. If you pay attention to what everyone else is spending then it will drive you nuts. Make a budget for what you and your FH can spend and work with that. Splurge on what you can and cut back on other things. Everybodies financials are different, also others get help so you cant base it on what others do. You shouldn't spend more just bc you feel you HAVE to its what others did. Plus the amount of guests you have makes a huge difference. If you have 200+ guests then obviously the Rh is going to cost more than somebody who can use the same exact RH, same time of year, same day and lets say all the same things, but has less ppl. Or you can have a person with 100 guests who splurges on many things and a person with 200 guests who looked for deals and cut back on alot of things and they can end up spending the same amount.

Re: BUDGET
We never really set a budget. We are paying for our wedding on our own. And after figuring mostly everything out it will cost roughly 55K. We are so happy wih every vendor & choice we have made. i wouldnt change a thing.

Re: BUDGET
yea we built in a really good budget for what we could afford to do. We splurged on our favors and everything else we kept in tight check. DJ we spent $900, Video/Photo we spent $5K (i would of loved to have spent more but we don't make $$$ so why stress out?), flowers we spent around 1k and our flowers kicked butt, limo we didn't get until last min because we were getting married at the hall and we won a gift cert so it only cost us $150, the bulk was the hall and we made sure we got a good price by having a sunday wedding in March.
Like many people say its what you can afford and keep it in mind yes this maybe a one time chance to really go big but its not worth the agro of charging it and taking loans out.
