Budget Bride Floral Centerpieces

SOoOooOoOo ... As we already know, florals are EXPENSIVE!!!! Especially when you mention wedding!!! LIKE WHOA!!! It's like buying roses on valentines day ... everyday they're $10 and on that day they cost $50! Mind you I'm a MAY bride and my wedding will be mother's day weekend! Just another reason for them to be crazy expensive!

So to the point .... Has anyone thought about getting the vase themselves and going to a floral shop to get just the arrangement? In reality, when you pay $150 for a centerpiece, you're mainly paying for the vase. Does anyone agree that it might lower costs? I was thinking about going to the city and purchasing my vases in a wholesale location. What do you ladies think?

i would go talk to a local florist... wedding florists in general are way more expensive than local florists! then pick less expensive, in season flowers and you will keep your costs down. if you can get the vases wholesale for cheap and give them to the florist, that will keep the cost down as well! there are many ways to use a florist without breaking the bank...

You are actually paying for the labor and the retail mark up on the flowers which is usually 2.5x the wholesale price per stem. I worked at a florist for a few years and yes it is good to buy your own glass if you can get it cheap.

It brings the cost down slighty for the vases... Most florist get vases super cheap so its the labor and flowers that add up.. Either way for that weekend your still going to pay a lot! Also def hit a local florist!

Some florists actually credit you back the money for the vases that you return, but it wouldnt hurt buying the vases yourself

Yes. Florals are expensive. I used to plan events and I remember looking in the city in the floral district for certain things, and to be honest, they are not much cheaper there than florists here on Long Island. I would just meet with some florists to get a general idea of what pricing is like and then go from there.
