Budget friendly alternative to florists

Hi all,

Thought I'd share a tip from a recently wed friend of mine. She ordered her flowers and arrangements from her local nursery, and says it was MUCH more affordable than going to a florist.

I think I'm going to research this some more...I have a nice case of sticker shock from the floral quotes on this site!

Good idea!

I was also thinking silk centerpieces for my tables and real flowers for my bo-k and such... will this look 'cheap'?

I've gone to Michael's to look at their silk flowers - and some look incredibly real...the thing is - they're expensive! I think it may cost as much as real flowers.

Have you considered non-floral centerpieces with petal accents? (freeze dried look interesting - http://www.petalgarden.com/freeze-dried-rose-petals.htm
)

Someone posted this site and I think it's one of the best out there for DIY projects:

I agree that florist prices are outrageous, but they say that you are paying for their expertise and time for setting up. Me, personally, can not imagine shelling out tons of cash for flowers because in my opinion, they're just not that important to me.

Some things to look into is candle centerpieces (either votive or floating), mirrors, or vases filled with things (LED lights, fruit, pebbles, etc). Also there are wholesale flower vendors online that ship flowers to you and then you put the centerpieces together yourself. Michaels offer flower classes, so maybe with the combination you can still get floral centerpieces at a more reasonable price. The options are endless!

We were told that going to a regular town florist would save us money. In the end, they ended up being way more than what we were getting where we booked. I'm all for saving money but I'm the type of person who would rather spend the money and have it done than have to worry about it.

09ner crashing......I bought all my glassware from AC Moore and the Dollar Tree for under $100. That also includes glass marbles, candles and something else...forgetting something. My florist is setting them up and I am using flowers for me CPs.
We are getting everything for a great price, under my budget, with all that and everything needed for the bP and cake.
FM me if you want info.
