I really like the look of candles as centerpieces, and I believe they would be cheaper than flowers. You can probably find them in bulk online somewhere and arrange them on the tables to look quite pretty. Unless of course your venue doesn't allow candles, which I have heard has become an issue at some places. But you said yours is outside, so I'm thinking that wouldn't be a problem?

As far as favors go, does your venue offer anything that could be used as a favor? (A candy bar for example) Perhaps you could negotiate with them to include that in some sort of package?

Not sure it would work for you, but for our engagement party we had fish bowl centerpieces, and they were a BIG hit!
All in all each CP cost about $20 or less.
The vase' were purchased at the christmas tree shop in deer park for about $6.00 each
the stones were purchased at the dollar store, we had to go back several times because we kept running out and eventually ran into the problem have them not having the color in stock anymore, so we had to get something similar, so if you were to do this.. buy extra, you can always put the rest in the bowl.
the flowers (fake) were purchased at the christmas tree shop, it was $5.00 for a vine which had 10 flowers on it.
The fish we bought in bulk at BTJs- last I heard 4/11 died, one didn't make it home (it didn't die in the bowl, they just couldn't find it).. so I'd suggest going elsewhere, as we were going to, but BTJ's was the only one taking orders at the time. I think we paid $2.50-$3.00 each
The mirrors we bought at lowes, a box of 8 was $12.00.. i think
I glued the jewels on myself

Our favors might be a good idea for you, we got these from wrapwithus.com
I would suggest getting a different one and going there and feeling it, my FMIL had gotten others stoppers from there as favors and they were solid, the ones we gave were plastic, I liked them because the double heart was our theme, but the FH went without me and didn't realize they were plastic, or else we would have picked something else.. but everyone seems to have liked them.

we paid $1.99 for them

His cousins (a few of them) all bought their favors for different events there, and never had a problem with any of them, and they are priced REALLY well.

That is different...very creative. I like it.

Sunflowers would fit your vineyard theme, are abundant in August, and bc they are relatively large, you don't need many to make a nice sized CP, so they might be an inexpensive option for you if you decide to do floral CPs.

As for favors, if your budget is really tight, they aren't even necessary really, but edibles such as candy are often inexpensive and a nice token of appreciation.

Costco is a good place to get bundles of flowers and there are a few wholesale flower websites that have reasonable prices. You can also go to Ikea and see what they have that you can put together.

You don't even have to use real flowers for your centerpiece, you can do a tall glass cylinder with water gems at the bottom and a floating candle on top. And then sprinkle silk rose petals around the cylinder. You can get also get wholesale glass vases.

ohhh I googled and found a cute idea:

here

You could find cheap vases at Ikea (that is where I found my CP vases or Michael's) You can even get the fake plastic grapes!!! and then just some branches..that would look great and I am sure it would be alot less expensive than flowers.

I think this is cute also. You can buy an inexpensive bottle of wine, and just get some fake ivy and some grapes and drape it around it?
