So we finally booked our venue and its only 6 months away...Ive been pricing photographers and Ive gotten nothing back but the 2000-5000 range. I really don't want to spend this on a vendor but I need to have a photographer there. Is there any other option or do you ladies know of any great photographers that charge less?

Do you have any friends who are into photography? Maybe ask one of them if they could take your pictures?
I also agree with the Craigslist idea.

If you have a friend or family member going to school for photography maybe ask them to help you out. If you can find a great photographer on a low budget then that is great. I looked for a low photographer to fit my budget, he had ok work, and I wish I would have spent a little more because honestly, they are my memories and I wasn't happy with the final product. Just something to think about.
Good luck!

Contact Tricia Laponte. Her prices start at $1200 for weddings but you only get pics on a disc, no album. she did my epics too (in my album) and is a joy to work with. Let her know Antonella referred you. [email protected]

You could also try calling around college photography departments.

I was just going to write this same thing. Please, please do not scimp on your pictures. There are other things you can cut back on. But your pictures are your memories, you cant redo the day if you dont like the way they come our.

Re: Budget Problem...Please come in with ideas
Look into Lighthouse...we aren't booked with them but they had the best pricing available and we met with about 5 or 6 different people. Also, see if you can just get 1 photog and forego the albums (you can make them on snapfish later for cheap!). Finally, perhaps you can only have them come for the first, say, 5 hours and leave like 2 hours before the reception ends if you really aren't that into the photos anyways (you will still capture the day!) HTH!

Look into Fade to Black. The owner will really work with you, and you can customize your package to make it cheaper.

Contact Lighthouse Photography...they are a vendor on here. Our package was much less than $2000. They work with any budget.

Re: Budget Problem...Please come in with ideas
I would get in touch with Lighthouse Photography they can really work with any budget!! Photos are the most important thing to us because thats the one thing after the wedding we will have to look back on & we want good quality photos. Compared to other photographers Lighthouse had the best quality & not trying to rip us off like others.
Thanks for the suggestions ladies- Lighthouse is a no go...charging 1500 for just photographer and copyrights no pictures. I think I might have found a few good deals thanks to some of the other ladies recommendations!
