Budget Question

Budget Question

Out of curiosity, when you and FH (or parents, etc) set up the budget for your wedding, did you include the honeymoon or is that supposed to be separate? My FH and I were having this discussion last night and we have different views.

IMO, there are no rules or guidlines.

we included it in our budget.

we included it in ours because it is still a substantial cost. And we set up our budget so that we knew how much money we needed to save before the wedding. I do know some people that have paid for a majority of their honeymoon with money from their wedding. It all depends on what you want to do.

think it just depends on you, and the parents. personally FH and i are not including it on our budget yet--since we are unsure if our schedules will allow us to take a HM right after the wedding. we're paying for it all ourselves--and we sense that there's a chance that my parents might provide $$ for a HM for us.

but i'd just ask when you set up the budget--if they would like you guys to include it in the full budget or not!

Thanks for the input. FH and I are paying for the wedding and HM ourselves. My view is we don't include it in the initial budget and have that be the ONLY thing we put on a credit card. FH thinks we should pay cash for the HM like we are for everything else.

We're paying for the wedding ourselves, but my mother gave us an engagement gift that is covering the cost of the honeymoon, so we didn't include it in the budget.
