We wanted to get a few engagement pictures out to the part of the family we barely see. I dont need a lot of pictures and I was thinking of just taking a couple of shots at the portrait studio in Target. Do you think that's cheap or a good way to save money. FMIL has been pestering us for pictures to give out to her side of the family. I dont want to spend a ton....what do you think?
good way to save, hey a picture is a picture, you're what makes them pretty!

Not sure why'd you even ask. Why not Target? If your trying to save $$ then it would seem to be the way to go. Is there something that I'm not getting?

I don't see anything wrong with that. I think target takes some good pictures. How would anyone besides you know they were from target anyway??

I say get them done where you can for a price that's what you can afford. No ONE will know where you got them done unless they ask!!!

I dont know, it seems all the brides here get it done by their photographer at a fancy studio, and here I am going to target. I wasnt sure if that was a faux pa in wedding planning....

No one has to know where you had them done ! - Who cares if they came from target or some $500 per hour photographer ! ??? - Go for it ! You're not being 'cheap' at all !

i don't know what the quality is like, but i would guess just fine and call you budget savvy...
for our save-the-dates we used a digital image my father took at my sister's graduation! something else you can do is take an existing picture and upload it to snapfish or ofoto and get multiple copies and/or send out photo cards...

We had our e-pics taken by our photographer....because it was part of our package. He gave us 1 picture...I made copies of that 1 picture to give to our parents. I didn't buy extra's from him though. I think it's a great idea to get them done at Target...especially if you haven't picked your photographer yet. Good luck.

You could also try picture people in the mall they are not that expensive for the shooting and a picture then you can go into Walgreens or one of the ones with the Kodak Picture maker and make copies.

Ask your photographer if he includes them in the package, if not, Target is a great way to go.

I say do what you can afford, so if that means Target then go for it. I am sure they will come out great.
One of the advantages to getting them taken professionally is that you can go on location to the becah, city, etc.... which is nice but I don't think it is a MUST have.

its not that we go there on purpose..once you book a photographer, engagement photos is 'usually' included in the price of your package. after that, you can take ditigal image (if allowed) and get more prints of them.

Re: Budget savvy or just plain ol' cheap?
I agree go for it! Alot of the brides who got them professionally done might have been because it was included free with their package. I know I had that option but never got around to taking them..
