Budget - Update
So, after setting one, and making sure that every single vendor came in at the amount we budgeted (or lower) (we only went over on invites), if every single person that gets invited (including b-list people) shows, we are $2000 short.
Naturally, the guest list got out of hand, with my mother saying 'oh, well you''ve been working on that pro-bono case for 3 years, you have to invite co-counsel, and oh, your BM's mother made your prom dress by hand, you have to invite her, and oh, my cousin invited me to his daughter's wedding, so you have to invite him and his wife, (but don't worry they won't come
) and FH saying, well I have to invite my old boss and his wife, and my new boss and his wife, and this other guy (that he constantly complains about being a total jerk) and his wife, and the owners of the bar where we met, etc'
What I want to know is who should I kill - my mother or FH?????
And here I was planning to get the one thing I truly wanted for the wedding more than anything else in the world with my tax refund. Silly me.
UPDATE
So, I had a long discussion with my mother. She agrees with my decision to just not invite the 5 cousins + spouses that we thought wouldn't come anyway. So now we get to invite two couples from the B-list that we really wanted to include. We are just going to eliminate everyone else from the B-list.
AND
FH, who has all along insisted that absolutely positively no one he was inviting would say no, just found out his niece is pregnant. She is somewhere in her first trimester so it is doubtful she will be able to fly in from Wisconsin for the wedding. Add to that he just told me that her hubby can't take off work to come b/c he is a college professor and based on their schedule he has to be in WI and can't take off.
