My fiancee and I are paying for our wedding and are trying to find a hall, caterer, or location for our wedding that is affordable, especially since I have a large family! The wedding party may be around 250 and we don't want to pay $100 per person (after tax and what-not) Does anyone know of catering halls or caterers that are closer to $50 a person? Also, does anyone know of an outdoor location for a wedding?
I appreciate any advice and help you can offer!! (I'm new to all of this!)

Re: Budget Wedding
Would you be willing to do consider a place with a package? THat might be your best bet. Manor East and Holiday Inn in Plainview both offer this.
Your other option is to have the wedding off season (Jan-Feb-Dec) on a afternoon. But then you wouldnt be able to haev an outdoor ceremony.

Re: Budget Wedding
Well, ours was 67.50pp, but with tax & gratuity, it came out to $101 pp! So, there are hidden costs! Beware!

Re: Budget Wedding
I think your best bet is to pick a winter month since they're usually a lot less expensive. Originally when I was booking everything I thought the end of October would be very inexpensive but that was not the case at all. My sister got married at the Riviera in Massapequa in March of 07 and I think she paid in the $70s with tax and gratuity.

Re: Budget Wedding
Try Stewart Manor or The Coral House. I believe Douglastan Manor does complete packages. Also, try to a Thurs or Fri wedding during the day to cut down on your options.

Re: Budget Wedding
It all depends what time of year and day of the week you are looking at. The cheapest mth in most catering halls are Jan-March. Also a daytime wedding can save you tons of money.
Outdoor space at the price I am not sure maybe East Wind, Westbury Manor or Flowerfields during the daytime might fit in that budget?
Verdi of Westbury has great food and service is good, they might be able to fit in with you budget.
Good Luck and Welcome!

Re: Budget Wedding
$70 a person with tax/gruity is great! I'll definitely look into the Riviera.
I did look into packages, but most required a smaller wedding party. I've also heard the quality declines when you use a wedding package.
I'm definitely going to get married in the off-season--the difference in price is unbelievable! I was considering an outdoor location in hopes that it would be less expensive to hire a caterer as opposed to going to a catering hall.
Thank you!

There are plenty of nice and inexpensive locations if you're flexible on your date and also time. I saved over $30 pp by having a day wedding!

Re: Budget Wedding
Try places that have complete packages: The Sterling, Mediterranean Manor, Douglaston Manor.. there's others, but I don't know of them.
I heard Fox Hollow was pretty reasonable. Everything really depends on the day of the week and whether its a afternoon or evening wedding

Re: Budget Wedding
I don't know if Brentwood CC can hold that many but def ask Michael from Swan Club. They are very flexible, has really nice outdoor space and a bigger room upstairs. The food is good too.

Re: Budget Wedding
We are getting married on a Sunday in February but it is still more than that. Maybe look at a place like Mediteranean Manor or Brentwood Country Club. I am not sure if the are big enough but they have the soup to nuts packages.

Re: Budget Wedding
I am having my reception at The Meadow Club and the room can DEF hold the amount of guests you want to invite and the price is right in your range! I would check them out!
