Did/Is anyone not having a sit down dinner and having a Buffet style dinner instead?

Re: Buffet dinner
I looked into that. Some places said it was more money and some said the same price. Then I thought about just having a cocktail reception with a lot of dancing instead of the sitdown dinner. Samething with the pricing. Basically what happens is it does become more $$ because they have to have more food and keep it coming as opposed to having enough food for per person plate.

Re: Buffet dinner
I have been to several out of state weddings where this was done - I liked it - but then again I love to eat anything where I'm allowed to control the portions

Re: Buffet dinner
we did! at our RH it was cheaper this way, but many places charge more because its more food. it worked out well for us at the aquarium, especially since the buffet line went through the shark tunnel...

Re: Buffet dinner
We are! Its alot easier because FHs family has different tastes than mine, so with a buffet style there will be plenty of choices so everyone can find SOMETHING they like. And if people don't want to eat alot then don't have to and people who want a bit more can go ahead and have whatever is left.

Re: Buffet dinner
we did!! our wedding was in NJ- and for our caterer, it was the same price either way. we did buffet so that our guests could have more of a choice, and be able to eat as much as they wanted.... our best man had like 4 helpings of the chateau briand! LOL plus, they could get a little of each main entree if they wanted to a lot of people don't like them because they're less formal, but we wanted something a little more laid back, so it was percet for us!

Re: Buffet dinner
My RH did not have it as an option, but I did look into it and it appeared to be the same price.
A cocktail reception sounds like a great idea BTW.

Re: Buffet dinner
we're doing the buffet... I prefer it, since you can see the food prior to selecting it, and you can avoid the sad overcooked sides that always seem to come along side my chicken at weddings
yeah, it definitely sacrifices formality, though. But, I think the added selection is worth it!

Re: Buffet dinner
we did a cocktail reception, after our first dance we had a sit down salad so that we could do toasts and then had stations set up around the room for dinner and it was perfect.
