Now I don't think I can married at my hall. They keep adding fees that we didn't discuss. Isn't the service fee supposed to be used (in part) to tip the waiters, bartenders, etc. I thought the only people I had to tip from the RH was the banquet manager? They are saying that all of that is in addition to the service fee. Then what is the service fee for?
I was so happy when I decided on this place, now I couldn't feel any lower. I can't wrap my head around finding a new place all over again...

Re: build me up just to push me down
usually there's a set fee for this....some places charge anywhere from 500-1000 to do the ceremony at the place....there shouldn't be any charges beyond that.....

To the best of my knowledge every RH's has a service fee, and unfortunately the service fee doesn't go towards tipping anyone.

I'm not sure where you're getting married so I can't speak in specifics, but there are a lot of other fees that don't go along with your quoted price but it should be somewhere in writing.
Like my quote and contracted price says $XX plus tax and gratuiity, and then whatever other charges there may be but that doesn't go into the per person charge.
I hope you're able to figure it all out!

Negoiate the crap out of them. I know one bride on here got her RH to drastically reduce the price of the ceremony. Whats it say in your contract? FH is so much better with all that stuff. Before you give up, why dont you exhaust all your options. After all, you worked so hard to find a place. If your bad at talking them down in price then maybe you bring someone else with you.

The service fee is pretty standerd and I have not seen a place without it. The service fee does not usually include the tip to bridal attendant or md. Remember that the tip for md is usually 3 to 5 dollars a person so ir adds up. Also remember that the servive fee gets added before tax. So for a 65 per person price you are really paying 82 per person.

I believe usually at reception halls the tips you are responsible for are the maitre'd and the bridal attendant day of. I would say call or go back over there and clearly discuss exactly what that service fee covers and what other tips you will be responsible for that day. If they say that your responsible for tipping waiters, bartenders, etc. And that's not what you thought then explain to them that's how it is at the other places you visited and you might have to change your location now. I'm sure they won't want to lose your business over it.
