We've been speaking with Watermill over pricing and now I find out if we book a Friday night or Sunday night affair with them we can not get married outside..I do like the inside chapel but it stinks that we can't use the outside chapel...
Why can't you get married outside??? Our friends got married this past summer and had their ceremony at the planting fields (if that helps!). It was really nice, but depends on where you live...
That stinks. Why not? What about have a Saturday day wedding? I had booked there orginally but backed out. You want me to fm you why?

They told me the same thing..that the other wedding will be using the cocktail hour space.............I was upset about it , but the chapel is beautiful. My main concern about other places was that if it was bad weather, where the ceremony would be? Here, I will not need to have the stress of that and its somewhere besides the main room.

Ok ..found out why.. We have the smaller room and start later than the larger party and if they have their cocktail hour outside its on the side where the chapel is....
I like the Watermill too.. I feel they give you a ton of food and I like the place but the not being able to use the outside chapel is a disappointment ...I am thinking about seeing what Fox hollow will offer me?
So here is something to consider. We went to an outdoor summer wedding at Watermill and there was little shade. So everyone sat away from the main aisle, where there was a little shade. We sat on the aisle so the bride's photos did not look like there was no one there!

I had this problem also. . The larger room gets the outside area... after going back and forth I came to an agreement with them I am getting married Wednesday Evening July 3 in the larger room. There is another bride getting married in the chapel room and she is not allowed access to the outdoor area. It was frustrating to finally come to some kind of agreement especially because I really wanted the outside I was able to get the Astor room for a guarantee of 100 people which was amazing especially because the room’s guarantee is a lot more than that. Keep calling and asking what they can do and what other options they have that is what I did. I originally wanted an October wedding but when they said they can do this for me I jumped on it because I really fell in love with the place. Also, they are very good with bargaining and throwing in extras . . ask for as much as you can. Are you open to the day before a holiday you might be able to get the outside area that way.

Georgios also has an outside chapel. Their food was great (they treated us to their Sunday brunch)and they were very anxious to book and very professional.
