Hmmm...I bet you just dont notice. Muscle weighs more then fat so you will see the inches drop...not the pounds. Hang in there...

You might not notice.
Best advice--keep it up and give it some time. The change is not overnight. And don't necessarily rely on the scale because muscle does weigh more than fat. I usually go by how my clothes fit--sometimes the scale doesn't budge, but the clothes are looser so that means that you gained muscle and leaned up.

Some people say not to concentrate on actual pounds, but look at how your clothes fit. It's a better indicator. Also, if you are within the range of the target weight for your height, I think it's harder to shed pounds. I've heard the more you lose, once you get closer to goal weight you kind of plateau. Just work through it and dont get discouraged!

Are you eating healthy? The best way to get results is to exercise and watch your food intake.
hope that helps....

Re: bummed about exercise
best advice i can offer is to make sure you drink enough water, eat lots of fruits and veggies, stay away from junk food, and try to switch up your routine as much as possible. your body gets used to one form of exercise after awhile if you keep doing it, so try to vary your cardio as much as possible. try running on a treadmill or outside, or try a class like spinning, step or kickboxing. if you want to stick to elliptical, make sure you do intervals, increase your resistance, try to do it for longer, etc. if you keep it up, you will definitely see results.
I've lost 15 lbs since january and this has definitely worked for me. don't think of it as diet and exercise, focus on being healthy and pick exercise routines that you enjoy so you will think of it as a fun way to burn off stress and take a break from the day.
it sounds like you're doing great so far!! don't worry!

Re: bummed about exercise
I know how you feel. I started my diet about a month ago now, and I lost 6lbs right off the bat in the first 10 days but I havent lost any weight since. Its very frustrating not to see any results on the scale, (I made FH hide the scale from me so I wouldnt be able to weigh myself anymore) but I am noticing a difference when I put on my clothes. Im just keeping at it cause I know eventually that scale will budge for me! Just dont give up!! Sounds like youre doing great!!

Re: bummed about exercise
Give it 1-2 more weeks, then break out those jeans or some other piece of clothing that si too tight and try that bad boy on. If you are working out with a trainer, you are building muscle, and it does weigh more than fat. Did you measure at all before you began? I bet you are losing some serious inches. You gain weight from the feet up and lose it from the head down. So you will see it in your face first and then down from there.
BTW keep up the good work!!!!! I don't do nearly as much cardio as much as I should, but I am trying. You will see results, but it will take a little more time!

Re: bummed about exercise
The old adage muscle weighs more than fat is definitely true. So while the scale may not change, your body shape will gradually adjust itself, making you leaner.
Also - check to see what you are eating. Sometimes when people work out more, they eat more.

Re: bummed about exercise
When I worked with a trainer I saw a TREMENDOUS difference in about 6 weeks...that's when it normally happens, if you're building muscle.
I didn't go down in size until that point, but I felt great the whole way through! I'd be done with a session and I'd feel like superwoman after...maybe not everyone gets that 'high' from working out. But I sure did!

Have faith and stick with it- it DOES WORK. Trust me, I started as a size 8 and ended up a size 4 in just 3 months!!! Best thing I ever did!!

Re: bummed about exercise
scales are worthless. water weight, fat vs. muscle.... too many variables to really tell the difference week to week.
pick out a pair of pants or skirt from your closet that's a bit snug right now..... then try it on next month. You'll see the difference. Also, you'll just feel perkier. you'll be able to go up several more flights of stairs w/o raising your heart rate, be able to carry more....

Re: bummed about exercise
My mom's a personal trainer... so i get all knowledge from her haha. But when you start working out muscle gets bulky first so you might even look bigger. It's also because there is still layers on top of the muscle. Once that comes off and the muscles aren't as swollen you'll look a lot leaner. Also make sure u work out opposites. if u do too much ab and not enuff back the ebs will contract and look short and bulky as opposed to long and lean!!

Re: bummed about exercise
My trainer told me to see the weight come off quickly I would have to do at least 45 minutes of really intense cardio every other day, to the point where I'm actually dripping with sweat

Re: bummed about exercise
I feel the EXACT same way but I keep telling myself that Rome wasn't built in a day and I also didn't put on weight overnight so I can't expect to see a huge difference right away either. The scale is worthless and that is a true statement. I've been at it for just under 3 weeks (hard training with weights and cardio 30-45 mins 6 days a week and I still haven't seen much in the way or results EXCEPT that I feel harder and I get stronger and stronger each time I lift.
Keep it up and I know we will see results VERY soon.
