Bummed....just a vent...UPDATED!!! :)

I'm so bummed right now. Both FH and I have been swamped with work and in my case school stuff and are super stressed. (That's why I haven't been around)

Next week is my bday and I will be celebrating in class - but when I was visiting him 2 weeks ago he suprised me by telling me he had the weekend of my birthday (next weekend) off and was going to come visit. Well he can't find a flight - they are all over 300 dolllars right now!! Seriously - 379 last time i checked to go from Charlotte NC to LGA!!! But there are so many deals like 89 to Bahamas!!

It is just that we really need to see each other right now as we're both under so much pressure. And now we won't be able to - unless the prices come down....

I guess though if he doesn't come up that means I can go to the GTG....that's a plus!

FH and I have been looking for flights and by Saturday the price was around $340!

We decided that it was alot of $ for us to spend now and we'd keep looking. Well I got a voicemail early Sunday morning (as he was going to work at 5am!) that he got a flight! He won't tell me how much it was which means he spent more than he should have!!!! He said he wanted to be here to celebrate my birthday with me!!

He also told me he had my birthday present shipped to my apartment and that I am not allowed to look at the return address on the box and have to hide it until he gets here Friday!!! How can i do that!! LOL He said the Raddress will give it away!! He is the greatest FH ever!!!

Im sorry I won't be at the GTG girls but hopefully I can make the March one instead!!!!

ITs a plus that you would be able to come to the GTG cuz i would see a familiar face!! .. but i honesly would rather not see you if that means you were able to be with your FH..

What about taking a train or a bus up here?

Are flights cheaper from LGA to NC?

awwww, i'm sorry. it ***** that one short flight can be so expensive. this might sound like a terrible idea, but a girl i used to work with's husband was in the navy...and when she wanted to go see him, she'd go the the airport and wait on standby. she was usually able to get ridiculously cheap tickets.

i don't know if that works w every airline. and i'm sure it would suck for him, waiting to see if he can get on a flight. it was just a thought.

would he be completely opossed to flying Southwest into Islip and then taking the train into the city to be with you??? You might be able to find a cheap flight via Southwest if he's willing to do the extra travel...

I know!! I'd love to see you girls but given the choice...

The problem is the timing - he can only leave Friday night at 9pm the earliest (cant leave the hospital) and he needs to go back Sunday by 6pm.

So that rules out the train b/c he'd lose too much time. We're even looking at Sat morning flights but he needs at least an early afternoon flight. He can't do an early one b/c he'll never wake up in time - too exhausted.

Oh and i don't know - it does seem to be a bit cheaper for me to go there - but i have so much work to do for school and my family is having a party/gathering for me on sat!

yeah if you get it a week ahead of time tickets will usually be more, and even the bahamas tickets are probably to buy it at least 21 days ahead of time...but soooo sorry about your situation, hmmm what about the train, but dont know if he would be willing to take a train for so long.

i know but it's just so ridiculous that the prices get so high - i mean they want $400 ONE way!!!!! It's crazy and it just stinks b/c we both got so busy and i had no time to get him a flight and he's in the same boat!

Well maybe you can get some work done on the plane. I'm sure your family would understand if you werent home on saturday. Would they be able to have it on sunday instead?

hmmm that does sound like an idea!! And I know I'd be able to do it but poor FH! He is doing a hem/oncology rotation right now and his day starts at 5am and he doesnt get out until 730- then he'd race to the airport and wait! And if he couldn't get on a plane then I'd worry about him driving home (1 hr away) -When I go there he picks me up straight from work and i end up taking the wheel b/c he's sleepy!!

Thanks! I need that now (huggy)!!! We looked at that - which would work b/c I'll be in LI already and could pick him up - but there aren't any times that work !!

I know - that's all very true. That part i didn't mention was that he really wanted to come here to see some of his best friends from school - and he never sees them - ever!!

But the week isn't over yet - I'm still determined to see his butt!!!!
