Re: Burtons and flower michele

We went to Burtons and was just going to get prices. We wanted to check out a few florists before deciding.Well, their arrangements were so beautiful and the man was so nice, we booked on the spot. We were very impressed with them. I don't know how much that would run you but their prices are excellent. Definately see for yourself.

Re: Burtons and flower michele

I LOVED Flower Michelle and never met w/ Burtons. I booked A Florid Affair b/c they were most reasonably priced and I fell in love with the centerpieces. I say what you need shouldn't cost you more that $1700.

Re: Burtons and flower michele

You should met with both then decide. I booked Burtons , but never met with Flower Michele (although I love the name )
You need to discuss how large of bouquets you want, the types you want (cascade, hand-tied). I doubt red roses vs. pink roses will make a difference but mention your ideas while talking to them. Also, what kind of pew bows. Print out a photo or image if you can to bring with you.
I cannot give you a price quote but have an open mind. Listen to their ideas too.
Let us know what you think after your meetings.
Oh, ask about delivery and set-up fees.

Re: Burtons and flower michele

I had appointments with both, but only met with John at Flower Michelle...from our first phone conversation I got a great vibe from him and I was impressed with the flowers and the price...$500 under my budget. My friend got married two weeks ago at the Crest Hollow and her flowers were spectacular. good luck

Re: Burtons and flower michele

Flower Michele. definitely! I will make this comparison:

Flower Michele : Bloomingdales
Burtons: K-Mart

And John will work with you. We went to both and initially Burtons was like $100 cheaper for the same stuff but we were in NO way impressed with him. So John went down a few hundred - we booked on the spot! We got married May 25th and everything was SPECTACULAR! I won't even be getting my pics in my album black and white becuase of how beautiful all the flowers looked! AMAZING! Plus I love John. He is a big teddy bear!

Re: Burtons and flower michele

DeniseMang- I think the Kmart comment was totally uncalled for. Many of us loves Burtons. Your opinion is one thing, telling the Burton's brides that we went 'discount' is totally another. Just something to consider.

Re: Burtons and flower michele

If Burtons is Kmart then Flower Michele is not Bloomingdales. It sounds like both of these shops give discount prices on flowers and there isn't a consensus about which one is better. (
I don't think many people would argue that Bloomingdales is a much, much more upscale store than Kmart.) Its great that you're happy with Flower Michele but that analogy doesn't really seem to be correct.

Re: Burtons and flower michele

Remember it is her opinion and she is entitled to feel like one florist is Kmart and the other BD. Just like with any other opinions stated here, we might disagree with it, but the person making the comment is still entitled to their opinion!!

Re: Burtons and flower michele

First, let me say that I booked Burtons - so take this for what it's worth...

I cannot, for the life of me remember anyone's flower arrangements from any wedding. The only exception -- a friend who spent over $25K on them.

I hate to break it to you -- but if you're getting a bouquet of Black Magic Roses with a ribbon-covered stem --> there's not much creativity involved. (Assuming you pick from reputable florists who won't get your order wrong or put in half-dead roses)

If you're getting popular / 'standard' styles with popular / 'standard' flowers (eg: roses) -- then why spend tons of money if you can get the same thing cheaper?!? For what - the equivilant of a 'bloomingdales' label??

Burton's has gotten rave reviews and their prices are awesome. I'm very happy with my choice -- they were open to my ideas and suggestions, but they also 'pushed back' with their own.

And guess what? NO ONE WILL KNOW WHERE I GOT THE FLOWERS FROM! But they will enjoy a VERY expensive/extensive cocktail hour & see me in an amazing dress that I spent a fortune on --> two things that I couldn't have afforded if I blew my budget on flowers.

For those of us on a budget -- you've got to make choices. Everyone has their own priorities. Flowers was not one of mine, nonetheless, I think I got tremendous value for my money and their track record speaks for itself. I think the flowers from Burtons will probably look just as nice as those from some high-priced place. I'm getting married in a month -- so I'll post photos and we'll see if I'm right...

Anyway -- I'm sure Flowers Michele is awesome too. From the posts it sounds like you can't go wrong with either.

Re: Burtons and flower michele

Ok, so maybe my comment was a little uncalled for, I am sorry.

I just loved Flower Michele so much, and John's creativity, I didnt know how use to describe it. But I did go overboard with that analogy, I admit. So I do apologize to all the brides using Burtons. We liked Michael. He was very nice. We just didnt think he was as enthusiastic and passionate as John at Flower Michele was. Michael rushed us in and out, should us nothing. Just gave us a price, didn't even work it out on paper. Whereas, john has samples. He was very passionate about his work and seemed more excited then me and my husband. But once again, I am sorry, I didnt mean to offend anyone and that was a poor example. Also, I have read the reports from all the happy brides who used Burtons, so to be fair, I would have to say I would probably have loved their work as well.

We met with John at Burtons and he was very professional, offered us some beautiful arrangements and was very personable. We thought he was so nice, we wished he was our neighbor.

Re: Burtons and flower michele

i also used Burtons, i wanted nice flowers, but i am very simple, and they were a perfect choice. we didn't ever look anywhere else because they came highly recommended, and that was good enough for me, since i didn't want a lot of choices. the price was definitely right, and when i sat down with not too much of a clue what i wanted, they showed me various pictures, and actual bouquets for a wedding the next day....that were beautiful....my white tulips centerpieces were the only thing i knew i wanted, and i got sooooo many compliments on them. you think people don't notice flowers that much, so it was nice! and all the bouquets, etc. were great...i have seen great flowers at all the weddings i've been to this year, if you have a recommendations for your vendor, i am sure that they will do a great job..!

Re: Burtons and flower michele

that is so pretty!...about the only thing i always knew for flowers was that i loved tulips..i toyed with the idea of diff. colors, either mixed or one solid bunch at each table, but the florist convinced me white would look great, and flowerfield is really white, and she was right! i loved it, and they also put spotlights on the centerpieces at Flowerfield, which i didn't even know, and it looked amazing!

That looks great! I wonder how they get the tulips to sit up straight. I can never do that at home.

Re: Burtons and flower michele

Thanks Liz! I always knew I wanted tulips too! - I had them in our BM bouquets as well (below).

Land's End does the same thing with the spotlights -you're right, it does look amazing with the lights!
