Burtons Brides..FYI

Burtons Brides..FYI

I just want to share an experience I had with Flowers by Burtons on my wedding day so you can all make sure that your on top of things with our own flowers (because you might need to be)

We had our 2nd meeting with them & I brought PICTURES of the bo-k I wanted to carry as well as bo-k's for the BM's and the EXACT centerpieces i wanted.

Cut to the final appt where we met with another person who thought I was carrying roses..'UMMMM NO IM CARRYING PEONIES..I GAVE YOU A PICTURE'
I was informed days before my wedding that Peonies werent in season & they couldnt make the bo-k I had fallen in love with MONTHS before.

THEN the centerpiece mock up was wrong..ALL WRONG..the woman assured me that they would make the calla lilly stems reach the bottom of the vase and fill up the width of the vase entirely. She even send me an email promising that it would look that way on our wedding day.

So our day is here..the flowers are delivered to my room and my bo-k has all sorts of wacky greenery around it (which I had to cut off)
the MOH bo-k had the wrong ribbon color on it.
the BM bo-k's had the wrong TYPE of ribbon wrapped around them!!

I called Burtons with half of my makeup on and a photographer in the room & they send someone out to fix the ribbon.
Thumbs up to them for that!

Later on when I got to the reception hall...I found out that the centerpieces were wrong. They never made the adjustment that they promised me..I had half a vase of short stemed flowers and half a vase of long stemed ones that looked RIDICULOUS together. They didnt even try to hide the short stems by putting the longer ones around them!! And to top it off..they were secured in place by ZIP TIES that you could see through the vase!! ***??

After another phone call..someone came back a 2nd time to put ribbon/bows around the vases to cover the zip ties.
Funny thing is...my room was all white & they used blue ribbon!!

So after another Bridezilla moment...they went out and bought white ribbon and came back a THIRD time to fix it.

In the end...the flowers looked pretty...but I could have done without the drama for the day.
Please make sure that all of you reiterate what you want again & again. Even if you think your being annoying...better to do it before your wedding day than during. I got very lucky and the problems were fixed but I wish we never had to deal with it in the first place.
We pay ALOT of money to have things done the way we ask for them and correctly (in advance no less)

Bring pictures, be specific and make sure your vendor knows EXACTLY what you want!!
I wish you all LOTS OF LUCK

I think the only thing that kept me calm was knowing that they agreed to come back and fix it..so they did the right thing...it was just so frustrating for it to keep happening again and again that day.
There I was with one eyelash on and a cellphone in my hand talking to the florist while my photographer and a room full of people are all trying to get me to calm down.
That was the only problem all day, so I'll take it!!
Alls well that ends well.

wow that ***** you had to deal with that!! especially the CP issues!! thats just ridiculous!!! I don't think zip ties should be allowed in a floral shop EVER!! lol my bo-k's weren't exactly what I wanted either, but it was pretty minor in comparison- FM just didn't wrap the entire bo-k with the fabric I gave them, so you could see the stems at the bottom.....but they had offered to come to the church and fix it, I said not to bother b/c it wasn't such a big deal. But I had never told them I expected all of the stems to be wrapped, I just figured it was understood since I gave them loads of fabric.

good thing you posted this so other girls know!!

sorry you experienced that! i too had some issues with burton's on my wedding day -- they were MUCH more minor than yours---but it did disappoint me a little bit that they made some mistakes -- considering how small my flower order was!

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I didn't have the best experience with them either & I definately wouldn't recommend them.

They were excellent when I first met with them, but most of the dealings after we booked were so-so. When I met with them to give the final payment, they were so rude to me that I literally left in tears (I posted about this).

On our wedding day, thank god things were basically okay. We only used them for personals. My bouquet was GORGEOUS & just what I imagined. The bouts & corsages were fine too. The BM bouquets... not so much. They were the wrong color roses. They were supposed to be the same champagne color as the corsages, but they were more of a yellow-ish off-white color. I just shrugged it off since they still matched the dresses & I was on cloud 9 & nothing bothered me, but days later I was really annoyed. The color wasn't very nice & was definately not what I asked for.
