The sad fact is that in America there is no REAL democracy...I know the other 2 candidates have no chance in winning...
and a write in.... Come on...we know that really has no chance!
true there is no chance of winning...but your vote means a lto when going to a third party
1. if third parties get 5% of the popular vote...they are eligible for federal funding
2. your voice speaks volume saying that you were one of the people that didn't agree with the 2 candidates...not that you were apathetic and didn't vote...but that you were not happy with either and said there needs to be other alternatives...
It has been a long long time since I voted for a dem or a rep!!!

I agree.. No matter what vote you cast. I think voting is VERY important!

I'm just so frustrated when I turn on the news..poor Howard Dean...normal everyday guy...gets overly emotional at a rally (hence the word Rally) and it ruins him...
His poor wife doesn't 'dress' the Barbara Bush part and gets ripped to shreads. The media even condems her for not giving up her practice to join him on campiagn. I applauded her...why should she she give her doctor life for her husband? they equally respected each other's careers.
Jess, I agree with you....but on one hand, I understand why people frown on Dean's 'emotionally charged' display...we certainly don't want to put someone in the Oval Office (and consequently with a finger on the Big Red Button) if he/she is emotionally unable to control him/herself...BUT...I don't see how Dean's display at the caucaus was so horrible either...
And while I realize this is going to sound petty, I have to admit that I don't like Kerry based upon how he looks....to me, he looks like he's got one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel! I don't want to elect a man leader of the free world if he looks like he's about to kick the bucket at any moment!
I know it's not about looks...I realize the issues are most important....I was just pointing that out b/c it does go through my own head. It reminds me of when Kennedy was challenging Nixon, and there was a televised debate where Nixon appeared tired, pasty and pale, while Kennedy looked rested, tanned and confident. Politicial experts largely credit Kennedy's youthful and attractive appearance for his win!
Incidentally, I shared my 'theory' with my DH and he said that considering that Kerry looks 'dead' and GWB looks like a 'weasel' we are screwed no matter what!

Sometimes it is. It is widely accepted that JFK beat Nixon based upon a televised debate because he looked so much better than Nixon, when Nixon refused to allow anyone to put make-up on him. Nixon lost and came to accept that if you are going on tv, you better get all made up for the camera.

and the ironic thing is that people who watched it on TV thought that JFK won the debate...people who listened on the radio thought Nixon did!!!
