Bustles

Bustles

Does anyone know of a bustle that won't add any junk to your trunk? I'm a bigger bride and I don't want to emphasize anything I don't have to.

Thanks

I am not quite sure if that exist. But the best person to talk to is the seamstress performing your alterations.

If you are wearing a ballgown I think a big bustle is nice and won't necessarily make the rear-end look larger.

That being said an American or traditional bustle (which is an over-bustle usually secured with hooks outside your dress, like the skirt is pinned up) will make the dress look less poofy than a French bustle (where it gets pulled up underneath into a poof and tied with ribbons). The American bustle can be made quite flat depending on the style of pinning it up which may be to your liking.

Also you could just have them sort of drape it and tie it underneath the back without poof at all if it isn't too long.

This is the double french bustle I lust for!!!
(I think it's also known as Austrian bustle)

i agree ... i think that adding a larger bustle will make your waist look smaller - so in a senes, the larger you are, the better you will look with a larger bustle (does that make sense??)

it would create a more curvy line to move the eye

Re: Bustles

I had a double french bustle and I thought it looked nice.

Mine did not sit as high as the picture above. Mine sat very low, so it doesn't add anything to your butt.

Pardon the dragging of the dress, it had been stepped on a lot by the time this picture was taken, but you get the idea.....

i think it def creates nice curves....im very petite and my hips are lost in big dresses and i feel like i look like a rectangle i think that a nice big bustle would make my waist look tiny and make me look more curvy - i think curves are so SEXY!!
