OK, so my first BM went to get fitted for her dress this afternoon. Besides the store trying to charge her for more than the cap is, they asked her if she wanted a bustle on her dress.
What. The. Hell.
Am I very ignorant, or do people ACTUALLY bustle BM dresses? I would think that's almost a major faux-pas, taking away from the bride and all. And our dress doesn't even have a train!
Then they proceeded to tell my BM that they weren't going to make her dress too tight, because the fabric has a tendency to split. lady, this was a $300 dress retail, it better be made a little better than that. And way to call my stick figure BM fat!
I am so very much looking forward to my own fitting now, where I will probably be told, again, that I need a boob job.

Re: Bustling for BM Dresses???
Aww sorry you have to deal with this. I don't think its very common but my BMs did have a bustle....their dresses were bubble hem with a slight train but we felt that with them on the dance floor etc. other people might have stepped on it so we went for the bustle. I wish I had pics of the bottoms but it looked fine.
Now as far as the lady saying it will split...thats just unacceptable...she is pretty much telling you the dress you paid all that money for is poor quality. What an idiot.

Re: Bustling for BM Dresses???
Honestly if I was your BM I would even have the dress altered so early. We are woman and we tend to change weight very easily and if the dress is altered too small now even 5 pounds can make it not fit later.
And I have seen bustles on BM dresses...it really depends on the dress.

Re: Bustling for BM Dresses???
My BM's had a bustle too, but that's bc they had a small train. It was just 3 buttons and more functional than noticable. Not sure why they would want to do a bustle if there's no train though! Hopefully they'll have someone a little more professional for your bridal gown.

Re: Bustling for BM Dresses???
hmmm... thats weird. If there isn't a train why the need for a bustle? My girls have a bistle but they have a very small train. I was going to have them cut the train off but they all wanted to just bustle it. So I said ok.

Re: Bustling for BM Dresses???
If your BMs dresses don't have a train W T F are they going to bustle????
When my MOH got married i was her MOH and the dress she selected for us had a small train...she had all the other BMs cut the train off but she left mine on and I got a french bustle....she wanted me to stand out more than the other girls and it looked great...didn't take away from her dress at all...but like I said, if your dresses have no train what are they bustling???
This is the best pic I have of my bustle....you can't even really tell it is bustled....
