I found out that my RH doesnt do fondant cakes, the bakery does buttercream instead. Is that good for decorating?

Absolutely. Alot of brides have gotten cakes with Buttercream. I know there is something called supersmooth or just smooth buttercream. It almost mimics the texture of fondat, minus the nasty taste.

I've seen cakes on this website that you really couldn't tell the difference....some bakeries can really make buttercream look like fondant.
My baker showed us both and they looked similar, I just liked how the fondant tasted better, IMO.
Oh your RH is down the block from my job hehe..But anyway how do they not do fondant? Thats so strange.

I think Smooth Buttercream is sometimes better than fondant. I mean I love the appearance of fondant but def not loving the taste. I think smooth buttercream is going to be what we go with! HTH!

Re: Buttercream cakes?!?!
My cake was butter cream. We hate fondant. Ours is from Audrey's.
The cake doesn't come from a bakery, it comes from the diner next door! Most of the cakes i've seen done in house from NRC are simple, but pretty! I don't mind that they don't do the fondant. You'll basically have a choice b/t a square or round layered cake.

My cakes was buttercream and I LOVED it. I don't like the taste of fondant.
Thanka ladies, your cakes look great. I guess I just freaked out there for a minute. If my cake looks half as good as all of yours then I know I'm good
